I was posting some of my homemade resources for various 0% complete projects in the January Goals & Progress thread and @bgillisp and @Kes recommended that I make an RTP game first, so I took their advice that night and I made my first ever (pseudo) completed RTP game (that’s wasn't just a bunch of nonsense or nasty content) in about three weeks. Since this is my first real game, I’ll just call it my first game.
Game Name
Kingesque VI: Froideur of the Heir

EDIT: @mlogan Sorry, I missed the prefix. I assumed that was automatic. I got it now.
It's completed, but it needs proofread (maybe a lot more than I know). I also realized that the upload is huge. In the next version I'll have to cull an entire library of unused battle animations / sound effects, which I assumed would be automatic.
It's also missing that certain je ne sais quoi, perhaps a few extra adventure scenes, or better dialogue to better explain what's going on. It's short because I made it in a straight line. Maybe it needs some in between. I'm not asking people to write the game for me, but perhaps I could get some idea feedback if I say "should the prince get swallowed by a whale when he's in the ocean, and have like a whale belly escape puzzle?) I actually wanted to put that in, but my puzzle ideas were nothing short of find item / use item... maybe too easy so I skipped it...

Synopsis
EDIT: I think I wrote too much synopsis; don't be overwhelmed. It might be more enticing to play if you just skip the synopsis and play it. Playing this game over and over myself makes me realize it might not be post worthy. IDK...
Kingesque, it means King-like or Kingish. The game is short and sweet. It took me 3 weeks, but you can probably win the game in 20-30 minutes. You are a prince and you find yourself shipwrecked on a beach. From there you can start to explore. The more you inspect, the faster you’ll win the game, but if you don’t advance the game you’ll still be able to read a bunch of humor and sarcasm (which I’m afraid needs greatly proofread at this stage; I would often playtest and find single words typed in the wrong order somehow, yikes!) You can earn points for exploring which replace your level in the system menu (max 99). I wrote my own simple script to remove menu stuff. You should complete the game with a score in the 90’s for the best experience, but it is possible to speed-run pass all the secret points and win with a 70 something, but that’s no fun. The prince is a cynical cool guy, but he’s got a good heart. He ends up accidentally helping people along the adventure, a few even on purpose. I don’t want to spoil anything, but your mom the Queen, you discovered she’s been kidnapped by an evil magician on the isles and that’s the main goal in this game: gather things like MacGyver and save the Queen. I’d say it’s more classical than cliché.
This game also has a no game-over system because I don’t want players to get frustrated and quit playing. This doesn’t sacrifice any challenge, but it may make it easier to get stuck/lost as certain parts of the game won’t open up until you’ve collected or inspected all that you need to inspect to advance the plot. There is simple map puzzle in one scene too; I hope it's not too tricky.
The game borrows elements from King’s Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow. For instance, this is an adventure game and you are a shipwrecked prince in the first scene. The title itself is even supposed to sound like King’s Quest and has an heir pun (it’s only an homage to KQVI I assure you). Mine is from the phrase “froideur of the air”, meaning aloofness or cool superiority which defines the character of the hero that you play. The VI is from KQVI too even though this is the first ever Kingesque installment (a start in the middle like Star Wars) But I assure you only 3 elements are actually borrowed from KQVI; the story setup, the 5 senses trials, and a bookworm character, but they are all used completely differently and the game is different too. The bookworm scene might offend you because of my vague understanding of the English lit. jokes that I make; they were based on quick Wikipedia references (this is subject to change as well). This game is supposed to be funny too, but it doesn’t even qualify as an actual parody of KQVI because following Weird Al rules I would have to get permission from Sierra games and I really don’t want to bother them for a side project that I’m just doing for a practice run; + I’m really too shy to.
I think that is more than the required 350 words according to (string).split(" ").length;
Content Warning
I really wanted to make this appropriate for all ages, but I still stuck in a few immature silly things without thinking about it. The worst adult word used is “bastard”. Four letter words only happen 2 or 3 times and are completely asterisked out. This game does mention drugs and alcohol, but only for the villains (if that’s worth anything). If it’s any consolation, they all end up getting clean too. There is one sexual joke for humor (it comes out of nowhere and I’m a little ashamed for thinking of it), but it’s nothing PG-13 by modern standards, just regular PG, and maybe TV-14 as TV is stricter. It’s no M by far, I hope. It’s all subject to change anyway.
