Description

Create a passability minimap HUD. See screenshot for an example.

Latest Updates

2012-02-12: Issues with hiding the minimap have been addressed.

2012-01-14: The issue where the game would crash when events had no page conditions met has been fixed.

Installation

Install this script in the Materials section in your project’s script editor.

How to Use

This script utilizes map notetags and tags in event comments. Please read the comments thoroughly.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All comment tags must be at the top of the list of event commands in an event in order for the color to appear on the minimap.

A: Scripts are almost a form of art; each author has their own way of writing them. Even if they function the same, there is more than one way to write a script.

How to hide your minimap sir? Is there a key that to be pressed to hide it?

is there a way to make the minimap show the whole map instead of just a portion of it? and also can it be shown in color based on the tiles or show cities?

You can go to line 80 and change that:

MAP_RECT = Rect.new(364, 20, 160, 120)

to something like that:

MAP_RECT = Rect.new(364, 20, 200, 200)

But be aware, the map will be very large in standard resolution.

Or you can change in line 86 that:

GRID_SIZE = 5

To something like:

GRID_SIZE = 1

But recommended is a minimum of 3.

Got a little question, is it possible to make a compatibility patch for that?

One of my project map become very slow....it's because I have too many events in that map....e.g - Light events, chests, npcs ects....

is it a lag?? if it is how to avoid it?

The game does not crash but the game play becomes slow, my character walks very slow in that map....

If you run under Windows 8 or 8.1 it's normal and can't be changed.

The most slow down producing thing is too many lights or shadows. But it happens to me only with high resolutions. ;)

The only thing you can do is reducing shadows and lights or look for a less performance killing light script.

But in basic it can also happen if too many events are on it, never had it, but often readed it.

Had a map with 50 events and no problem there, but you can look out for an Anti-Lag script here, it may helps you.

But these scripts are not compatible with resolution changes or else you might get events not running that should do so. (\s/)

Other than what Cheeky Moon mentioned, your slowdown could also be the result of poorly made events especially parallel events. I have tried this script before and it did not cause a slowdown for me.

By the way, I don't know if you are posting in the right thread. It sounds like you are having eventing problems, rather than problems with this script.

show_minimap 

hide_minimap

commands/script?

I guess you can do an Item, that runs 

Common Event 1
Then you put in your Common Event 1 the script call:

show_minimap

or

hide_minimap
This should do the thing, not tried, but should work. ;) (\s/)

Was able to download the japanese version of this script. Does anyone has the english one? Also, is there a way to display events in minimap?

Figured out how to make the events show up. Modifying it so I can choose which ones blink.
