For my part in the discussion I was mainly tuning into the large forehead. By all means, if this is your intention for your unique style it can absolutely exist along side everything else ever made! However, what has been throwing everyone off  and the concept of the 'Uncanny Valley', to me anyway, is definitely as Sharm is pointing out, an anatomy problem.

I took an interest and deconstructed what I think your critiques are pointing out:

So I took your art and crudely morphed the features separately (hair, face and chin areas specifically) and came up with this:

Now I could not compose the details as you have in a year. Your composition as far as the elements in his hair and the shape of his features (ie; eyes, ear, mouth, etc) are great. But we can start to see how this edit begins to bring the features back toward believable.

Here's how I see it in 'diagram' form:

And I probably could have pushed the eyes up another few pixels, in fact.

The language gap seems to be a big problem here. I'll do my best to explain. Unrealistic styles like anime don't throw all of anatomy out the window. The artists who create those styles know all the rules but then specifically choose to break some and keep others to get a specific effect. DC and Marvel make heroes taller than the typical 7.5 heads to make them look epic. Sailor Moon has super long legs to make her look elegant. Many American action cartoons simplify the curves in the body into simple lines because they emphasize the motion. However if you wanted someone to look weak in a comic book style, not knowing why that heads tall rule is broken would make creating that weak character extremely difficult if not impossible for you. If you don't know the head height rule and try to copy comic style characters, you might think that giant pectorals would be the way to do it then be confused when the character's head and arms don't seem to match the rest of the body.

I was never intending to offend, just offer critique and felt misunderstood and like I was misunderstanding you when you seemed to be implying that anime style had no anatomy rules and that I looked down on anime styles. Both are untrue, so I was trying again to express myself in the hopes that you understood my position better. I never said you didn't know foundation, I was actually trying to imply the opposite, that you knew the foundational rules but weren't using them when trying to emulate the anime style. When I said copy, I did not mean it as literally as you are taking it, that was one of the reasons I felt the language gap was getting in the way. I never lied and never contradicted myself. I may not have expressed myself well though, I will admit to that. My moderator status has absolutely nothing to do with anything I said here and is not based on popularity or art ability, I'm not sure what gave you that impression. It's too bad that you feel someone must be a better artist than you to give critique, I happen to find that severely limiting. I'll stay out of your thread except to moderate.

Speaking of which. Knock-knock, please avoid double posting, as it is against the forum rules. You can review our forum rules here. Thank you.

What I saw on the first post definitely intrigued me, but I really like what I'm seeing in your update!

You have of a way of coloring/shading characters that is both subtle yet detailed, and it gives a very nice aesthetic to each piece. For the most part your proportions are good - I would just suggest double checking the size of the facial features on the first character (the guy in green). With the more environmental drawings, some of the building perspectives seem a bit "off", but they're consistently off in a way that makes it work. Either way, this is some very nice work, and I'm looking forward to seeing updates as they come.  :)

Thank you ^^

Okay. Here new uploads.

Very rough sketch, just made it. Idea in colours:

The witch from my project. Here is her story in few words (warning, not a native speaker :D  ): she is escaping from humanity, hiding hereself deep in the dungeon in treasure hunters mountains. People apt to afraid what they don't know, everyone blames her for missing hunters, mystical deaths and all other bad things. They say "the witch should die", and they want it bad. There is a big reward for her head. In fact, there are only rumors of frightened people and nothing more.

She will be the 1st "boss" in the game and she will save the lifes of all those who wanted to kill her, even taken huge risk to her own life..  She will join the main party after all.   :)  I'll need a good story writer! who knows English better  :D

One more sword

Cheers

Thank you, prince

I'll create a topic in the project section soon (planned to create few days ago but was stuck with animation and graphic updates), so everyone will be able to apply for a supportive artist, writer, coder role or to affect the project and story suggesting own ideas and points of view

knock-knock i really dig your art style. your use of color and the look of the accessories and apparel give such an intriguing overall feeling of playful/fantasy/tech. the witch already seems like an interesting character. i think your concept stuff is really funky, and i'm eager to see where you go with it!

Have you created a topic in the project section yet? I probably missed it
Not yet  :)

Currently foundation for the project in progress. I want to post there a topic with full presentation when foundation will be completed, estimated month - April.

However, if you like what you see here - feel free to contact me. The project needs all sort of talanted developers - writers, coders, music composers, artists

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving!
