About:


KONEKO. is a short platformer game made in RPG Maker VX Ace by our team for our annual "10 Days Challenge". (this is the first year)


 


 


 




 


 


In a world of cats, there's a chance in 1.000.000.000 for a cat to be born black, and seems that this chance just happened to this cat called "Nekko".
Excluded from society, growing up with leftovers from others, and hated by many, Nekko has no reasons to live, and yet, he tries his best to make new friends.
One day Nekko was just tired of everything, and passing by a Cat God's statue he pushed it and the statue broke.
The Cat God was very angry and cursed him to NEVER touch water again otherwise he would die.
Now Nekko is trying to go to Cat God and revenge... somehow...

The endings are chosen based on your interactions (and luck) with other cats.
There's a certain chance for some groups to be friendly with you.
 


 


Notes:


This year's our challenge themes were: GODS, WATER and CURSES. 
Based on these we made this game.

Update (18.01.2017)



 


There were some debug events left, so we deleted them.


 


There is also a "bug" with slippery ground, and we have a quick fix.


The bug is caused by wall jump, and we cannot fix this until the creator of the core script (ARC ENGINE) is updating his script.


We are sorry for this.

You are right. This game is not easy. I gave up on it for now, but I might keep trying on a day when I'm less dyslexic.


I'm just having trouble with the physics. I fell in the water way too much for a cat. IRL cats move like delicate acrobats. This cat moves like it's on ice. It sends pangs of quit-playing-this because I don't want to bother with the controls learning curve.


I probably shouldn't complain though about intuitive movement because I myself have no knowledge of how to make smooth platformer in RPG Maker.


However, the art is beautiful and I like the tear jerking intro story.

We've been looking into this and we found out the cause (wall jumping) , and we have a quick fix here:

This "bug" is from core script (ARC ENGINE) and the author of the script doesn't seem to update the script anymore.


We are sorry for this, and we hope our quick fix will be useful for you someday.


(We also updated the game, you should be able to download the updated game now.)

If you have a parameter available for gravity, it might be more catlike to turn it down a couple. Again with the learning curve, I'm not used to pressing down during a jump. I hope I don't seem like a jerk, I'm just as curious as a cat to see the ending of this cool game, but my lack of talent playing it is killing me.

Yes, there is gravity, and wall jump force, but after this there is nothing about after-wall-jump. 


I modified them ,but still nothing,the bug still happens.



Also, you don't have to jump and press down always, you have to only after a wall-jump.


You can also do not fix the bug, but it will increase its difficulty for you.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
