Under the great barrier city of Orello lies a vast Labyrinth... teeming with monsters of all kinds, great and small, kind and savage. Endemic to the Labyrinth these monsters dwell, and Orello was constructed on top of their homelands to keep them isolated from the rest of the world.

And so the task of containing these monsters and exploring all the Labyrinth has to offer lies on the shoulders of Orello's citizens. The world stands on the edge of a time of astounding discovery and fearless development. It is time to take up the mantle.

As it stands currently, this project is a demo. Right now, you can play up until the end of the First Layer, which can take anywhere from 2 hours for a quick playthrough to 5 or more hours if you want to get absolutely everything and find every secret. There are also two boss fights.

Since this game is in an early demo, I highly suggest that you save often, in case any unexpected bugs appear. It's always best to prepare in advance! I am constantly updating and working on the game so if you encounter a bug, please let me know and I will try to get it fixed right away.

This is my first RPG Maker game (and game in general) and I have been working really hard on it, so I hope you'll give it a shot <3
This game may contain some horror elements down the line, so if you're easily scared or are sensitive to depictions of trauma and the repercussions of it, play through this game carefully or opt to not play this game due to it being a major focus of the story.

Labyrinthians is heavily character and story based, and many of the side characters have unique and interesting backstories that you can choose to explore through several character-oriented side quests. Whether or not you choose to explore the world around you to the fullest is entirely up to you. But this game is all about exploration, so it may enrich your experience. Have fun and enjoy the game!

Labyrinthians is a turn-based rpg focused on exploration and story. The Labyrinth is vast and filled with all sorts of goodies. The main story is linear but there are several branching side quests and stories to uncover, and plentiful amounts of secrets to unlock!

Crutch and Rinja are the Orellan Explorer's Guild's newest recruits. Guide them through the dangers of the Labyrinth, from F-rank explorers all the way to the famous S-rank. Traverse the Labyrinth's many layers, each with their own distinct aesthetics, ecosystems, and societies.

Encounter Orello's six fabled champions, and see if they are really as heroic as the tales make them out to be. And above all, wonder: is it really good for humanity to explore this Labyrinth, or are the secrets you will uncover best left untouched?

Labyrinthians is set in a high fantasy world full of danger and wonder. Areas are very large and exploration is encouraged - there are goodies around every corner! The story has a slight steampunk aesthetic mixed with magic and fantasy elements. The world is split into sections, called "layers", and progression from one layer to the next is linear, though each layer has its own side quests and stories and secrets to uncover.

I'm going to try it out, looks promising :)

EDIT: when playing quickly a few minutes, there are some tiny obstackles which
is weird or intentional, like you can jump down, but not going down by ladder, only
go up, don't know why, but not that big of the issue atm.

However, the well and bucket with water is (near the log), there is only a spot where
you can outside the map (see image) which you can fix easely.

Red arrow means you can go in and out there, the red Cross is something
you can walk over close where the character is atm.

not sure why the item say "Sorry!" supposed to be some battle item.
(more feedback after I play longer, might DM with all the mistakes in 1 package.)

Thank you so much for trying my game out!

The part about only being able to go up the ladder one way is intentional since I wanted to provide a way back up without having you climb the rock surface. I suppose I could make it both ways but I found it cooler to jump and slide down the rocks.

I'm aware of the two points and a few other playtesters have pointed that out to me! It should have been fixed (the project I deployed had it fixed) but for some reason it's still there. I'll make sure to fix the map errors next update!

The sorry item pops up when you try and use an item in battle. Unfortunately Moghunter's Chrono Engine (the plugin I'm using for my battle system) has some sort of conflict with my game and items don't work when you try and use them in battle. That's something that I'm working on and hopefully can fix soon. Sorry about that!

Thank you again, It means a lot to me <3

when I playtest it furhter, alot of the buckets, logs, signs etc are walkable,
1 berry couldn't be taken from the big tree when standing below it.

also there are some typo's. specially in the conversation between the girl and crutch
when in the explorer guild filling out a paper.

so I stop playing while you can basicly skip alot, and I can move every where to
avoid battles. so alot of tilesettings need to be corrected and typo's.

maybe i retry when everything is fixed nicely though.

Sooo, as a big fan of the Maze Runner series, I instantly look at every game title having "Maze" or "Labyrinth" in it, even your game has nothing to do with the novels but more like.. hmm.. SAO maybe? The idea of having multiple levels reminds me on SAO, yes. I dunno why, but I really love stories about mazes and worlds with levels.

I played about half an hour and I'm on the second boulder puzzle. My thought so far: I really like your story! It's nice, lovely and charming. The world having a floating city and dangerous surface is surely not reinventing the wheel, and many people would say it's wornout clichees, and usually so do I, but for me it's not a problem. It's exactly the opposite! Just a few moments into your game and I understand how your world works.

I like your characters. I think having an abused being has a lot of potential to give him depth. Your cat character maybe looks alike the usual bright anime girl, however, especially with the relationship to Crutch, I like her. Sometimes I just need some little dose of cute Anime clichees!

Unfortunately the mapping is really bad. But that's not bad as Mapping is something every can learn! The first problem is, the game has too many mapping errors. ShadowDragon already pointed some out. Some tiles are passable, although they shouldn't (trees, signs), and vice versa, some tiles are NOT passable although they should (edges, small bushes). That really disturb the boulder puzzles making them unplayable.
Second, some assets just look arbitrarily thrown in. E.g. a barrel at the edge of a cliff in the middle of nowhere? Why would there be a barrel?

You really really need to fix these Mapping errors, it would be so sad if such a lovely game get's bad reviews or players quitting it because of the Mapping.

And another thought, it's not a point of critism, more a matter of taste. Maybe your start is a little bit too fast. So the escape scene is fine, although simple, but as soon as you are on the surface, I think it would be cool to have some slow moments in which the Boy tries to stand on his own legs and to explore the world down there. Additionally, it would be nice if we will learn what the Cat Girl was actually doing when they met. Was she hunting? Or exploring? It looks like she was standing motionless until the Boy surprised her. On the other hand, I really like the scenes when she tried to flee but was caught up eventually :D

So in the end, your game needs a lot of work regarding the Mapping, and I can see that it's not a professional RPG Maker game, but more a starter project, but I love its world and storyline!

imgur sure is getting weird, one day I lose gradually all my images, the other I get them back randomly and then again they disappear again.
Despite OPT2 praise it still has some strange stories in it. Lady Mikka is trying to work herself to death because of guilt. Guilt over what? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So instead of finding a NPC to have a heart to heart with her they decide the cure is a new kimono. So when she drops dead she'll at least be well dressed. I haven't even got to the strange part yet.
Did so much work on the game today. I wish I could post it all in this status update but there is a character limit of course haha. I thought about making a topic for updates, though... maybe.
The most recent sign that I am old. I have done martial arts for over 4 decades. Never HAD to stretch out. Good, of course, but never required. Was doing some kicks in the kitchen because, why not, and I felt a pop in the back of my thigh. Now I am limping around. Gotta love getting old.
One of the biggest perks of being fluent in English is how many new and interesting recipes I am able to find and try out that I would have hardly come across if I just spoke my mothertounge :3
