Story

You start with Vivian, Merlin's apprentice, also known as the "Lady of the Lake" in many King Arthur stories. Your first quest is to find the chosen one destined to be the king of England and give him Excalibur.

She finds herself on a much bigger adventure to save kidnapped kids, and other surprising quests. Some of the quests are merely possible scenarios, often to defend Camelot from various invasions.

Main Features
  • Recruit monsters: The first one you recruit determines what others you can recruit.
  • Arthurian allies: Arthur, Guinevere, Merlin, & more can join your team.
  • Possible scenarios: Your actions and inactions can lead to various scenarios, such as Camelot being attacked. There are somewhat different possible endings as well.
  • Order turn battle (O.T.B.) system: You act right away when it is your turn. You see the turn order for this round, and next round. There are ways to manipulate turn order.
  • Boost points: There are boost points similar to Octopath Traveller & Bravely Default. Use them for more attacks or to improve certain abilities. You get one every round after not using any. You also get one if you use a guard/evade action.
  • New Game Plus: You can save the game after you beat it, and continue from that save file to start a new game using New Game Plus features. You get to keep legendary items you found. There's also an option to change your starting team, which changes how the game functions a bit.
  • Secret Ally Guide: The game comes with a Secret Ally Guide PDF, which tells you how to recruit certain characters. Most of them require that you don't choose your starting team.
  • Free demo: The demo has around a third of the story content -- two to three hours of the game.
The game was released almost a year ago, and it has been updated a lot since then. (9/10/2023)

There was a small problem in the Secret Ally Guide, and it was updated to version 1.1. The new version is in the free demo section.

Update (10-30-2022)

The game was updated to version 1.11. The main issue is that the single file version of the game seemed to be causing problems. (More information)

Update (3-11-2023) / Version 1.2

There were a couple small quality of life improvements, and a couple issues were fixed. The newest Feski Skill Tree plugin doesn't work right, so I had to go back to the previous version.

I am now following you on itch.io and I just downloaded the DEMO to try. I normally don't buy games like this for the sole reason that the high HP numbers and massively high damage numbers hurt my soul when I see them. If it is truly turn-based and my decisions aren't rushed, that can be a mitigating factor. I can't quite tell from the DEMO.

However, from what I saw in the trailer, you have some very cool concepts that I would want to incorporate in my own game so I will contemplate buying the full game after I take a look at the DEMO.

But from what I saw in the trailer, there are some very cool things in this. I love your visuals too. This looks a lot better than many of the RM games I have seen for sale on Steam.

I am not a big fan of high numbers either -- mostly for the early game. I hope you enjoy what I made, and I am thinking of making a new version of the game with lower numbers.

The default damage formula encourages larger numbers, and I am using it to some extent. I think Dragon Quest uses a similar formula divided by eight.

The biggest update was changing the animations for boosting. Several smaller updates were also made. More information.

There is now a test version of 1.9, which has some radical changes:

  • You can save anywhere.
  • HP/MP healed after every battle.
  • Lower numbers (Half starting HP).
The regular version of the game was also updated to version 1.4.

Version 2.0

The game was updated to version 2.0:

This is a huge update that is mainly meant to make use of lower numbers -- especially for the early game. The main allies have half as much HP, some enemies have only 3 HP, and damage is lower. On top of that, there were a couple major quality of life improvements:

  1. You now save the game after every battle, and regular enemies are usually more challenging.
  2. You can now save the game at any time.
There were around seven other significant updates.

The free demo was also updated to version 2.0 with these major changes. The older version of the game is still up as well in case people want to compare the two versions.

Thanks for tagging me! I will check it out. I sort of lost track of this. I downloaded a number of games to try and then got mentally abducted by other things that wanted my attention.

But I will prioritize trying this game next. Thanks!

@recoculous I just tried to play the Demo v2 and I couldn't find an executable file. I checked the older demo and there was one to launch, which I tried and verified. Is something missing from the V2 Demo?

Or maybe I am doing something wrong.

Just wanted to check.

Thanks for letting me know. I have no idea what happened, but I re-uploaded it, and hopefully the problem is fixed.

I just downloaded the updated Demo v2 and I confirmed that the Game launches. I will check it out later today.

Just a question. I have tested a few games now for folks and offered feedback on anything I observe. Usually through PM. Would that be something you are interested in?

I only ask because it changes how I approach the game. When I am testing, I scrutinize everything that is clickable, both in the UI and on the maps, and I carefully read every word for possible issues. I collect those and then send a bulleted, descriptive list.

If I'm not testing, I just ignore anything like that I see and just play the game instead of tracking anything.

I am happy to provide feedback, but I also never presume that it is desired.

Just wanted to check and thanks for making the Demo available for free to test out.

I would appreciate knowing about any real problems you find, but I don't want you to feel like you have to fight every enemy or anything like that.

Version 2.1

The game was updated to version 2.1:

  1. Rather than totally removing the damage cap, you can now upgrade it to 9,999. (The starting damage cap is 999.)
  2. Several "ordinary" enemies were improved, such as the human soldiers and vampires.
  3. There's now more information about elemental weaknesses in the status menu.
  4. There were multiple other updates.

Some of the updates:
  1. The damage cap for two ultimate attack spells were increased to 99,999. The Ring of Power also now increases the damage cap to 99,999.
  2. Characters that are focused for critical hits now have fire on their head.
  3. The killer rabbit is now stronger.

Okay, so it looks like I've bamboozled by that dastardly placebo effect again. Still taking the meds, which seemed to help at first, but yesterday evening my chest got this odd numbness, which didn't last long, but still. AND its still difficult to breathe. Guess I'll go spend the money I was saving for homebuying costs on another doctor visit :\
