note boxes are so small and shoved into a corner. My suggestion is to remove the box from all the windows and replace it with a Notes button. When clicked, a new window will open that's much larger (think about the size of an event window), where you can add your notes. Scroll bars if you have so much it can't fit.

Yes please! I tend to use them for writing information about the character, but I know when I was using them for certain scripts/plug-ins they tended to get full pretty fast (well, they got full when it came to information, too).

Can I just add i'd rather still have the small box, but you can click to enlarge it. If i'm adding a small note for lot of entries I don't want another box to pop up.

I think that is the essential basis ...
In fact all the box should be dynamic on the width and height.
This is not very difficult to achieve.
The software (Resource Hacker) allows to modify somes [HexaCode]&[BinaryCode] in somes Dll to allow this.
If amateurs can do so then why not the DEV?

What? What does that have to do with enlarging a notetag box?
Also, I don't think RPG Maker makes use of "standard" Windows dialogs.

Do any of you use the "note" area for actual comments/notes about the item? Or do you use it strictly for plugin note tags? I would like to know.

Thanks,
- Liquidize

@Liquidize
I would like to use it for comments about the database objects, simply because my plans usually require complex interactions where such notes would help.
But because the notebox is small and the only way to attach data, that is rather difficult.

I'll make another topic about an alternate idea I had for a while that might help with data additions...

I am asking if users use the "note area" for more than just meta data/note tags accessed in plugins. Such as comments about the object, like you'd comment code with.

Thanks,

For me, not really.
It may happen to me to leave a small note, in a events, but not in the database.
Being given too small can of space, I prefer, make my items in a file JS.
Is very more clean for me than the DB note area.

I've never used the notebox area for commenting. I *have* used it as a "note to self" thing though; like, if I'm pre-populating a lot of skill names, I might write a quick note in the notebox that says "inflicts fear, does dark damage." But I always replace that with plugin note tags or just delete them when I'm done working on the skill.

I don't think you understand what I am asking. Ignoring the lack of space due to the notebox size, do you leave little notes in the note area, or would you if the note area was larger do that?

That is what I am asking, not comments for the players, but more like "notes to self".

@Liquidize Right, sorry, I think I phrased it poorly. I definitely don't use the notebox for comments for players. I do use them on occasion as temporary notes to self, but it's rare. 90% of the time if the notebox has anything in it, it's going to be a plugin command.

Is this discussion relevant to the suggestion? If not, it might be better being continued in another thread. ('cause I get notifications every time someone posts and it doesn't seem relevant or suggesting alternative implementations)

It's relevant to the note box, and how I'd like to go out implementing this suggestion, yes. I'd preferably like to keep all discussion regarding the notebox here, unless it is extremely different proposal. It prevents stuff like what we have with the Map Editor, where there are like 5+ different threads either suggesting the same thing, or very close to a feature already suggested. It keeps things contained, and easier to deal with when writing up proposals on the backlog cause we can just reference one thread. If it is an issue though I could make a separate topic, yes.

Oh, I'm sorry - I just realised it was you who started asking about it, and that it would be in order to consider various options to improve them. By all means, go for it :)

One of these days I'll finish my morning cuppa before I start reading the forums!

So far, I have only used note boxes for plugin tabs.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
