@cairn - Actually, instead of doing the tint in the outside maps, it's better to do it on the common event... because if you have lots of outside maps, then you need to copy-paste that into all those outside maps... And if you ever decide to change the tinting, then you would need to recopy and repaste or edit them one by one... while doing them inside the parallel common event means you keep them in a single event...
I'm pretty sure I tested this? the tint would stay the same when I enter buildings etc..

By the way Josh, sorry if I sounded off about the whole thing. I didn't really put that it was helpful that I found your tutorial in the first place

Of course for the buildings, you would either retint, or put an array containing all map IDs of indoor maps, before tinting, check if map ID is included, if yes, then don't tint... anyway, the idea is that at least for the outdoor maps, you should centralize it so that you can easily change values... it's not that much needed for indoors since you only probably will be using a no-tint style, so you would never probably change it...

I'm creating a game in which the plot drives the time of day (In other words, after... say, a cutscene, the time of day will change). My question to anyone who's willing to answer is, if the cutscene events directly change the Time variable, do I need to reset it the way :::JOSH::: showed us in the tutorial?

Thanks for this, I will definitely try this out in my zombie game.  Would there be a way to make it so there are more encounters at night?

So I have made my own variant of this that waits 1 minute between each screen tint. It also picks up at the screen tint that it left off at when you went into a home or dungeon. Simply set it as a parallel process to activate on a switch. Turn this switch on when exiting a building or dungeon and turn it off when entering one, tint the screen back to normal as well of course. Once you then leave the house the variable counter will tint the screen back to the time period you were in when you entered the home and pick up at the appropriate counter period. Attachment one is the first part of the Common event, this part determines your last daylight variable amount, sets the tint, and moves the event to the appropriate time area. The second attachment is the timer, every minute this will change the variable by 1, each time this happens the jump to label will move it back to the conditional branches to tint the screen and then another jump to label will bring it back to the same spot in the timer.

Be sure to remove set handling in the condition branches and do not nest them inside each other. Also, fading in and out the screen when moving from indoors to outdoors is recommended so the change in color is not as sudden.

This tutorial has finally been updated as of 8-8-2014. Please use the new tutorial for future references as the old tutorial is no longer supported.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
