Behind the scenes:

So my roommates and I made this short film last summer around this character we created called Lazer Eyes. You can view the video on Youtube here. That is basically where the idea for the RPG came from.

Main Characters

Lazer Eyes: Nano Bots on his brain and powers of the gods, Lazer Eyes nano bots were activated when he ate to much Protein Powder as a kid. Now he spends his time banging babes and fighting crime.

Blue Ray: The Brother of Lazer Eyes. Blue Ray is a powerful leader of S.O.N.Y - a group of mercenaries stationed in Anacostia. Blue Ray has made it his life mission to destroy Lazer Eyes.

Potato: The legendary Man Virgin. Friends of Lazer Eyes and foe of Blue Ray. Potato wishes to join Lazer Eyes on his many quests.

President Trump: Ruler of Neo-D.C., Trump is at odds with Blue Ray and his group S.O.N.Y ever since Blue Ray bought the Pentagon to turn it into a high security prison for S.O.N.Y.

Game is R13 for some dark humor and mild adult themes.

Hahaha, I like the concept! There isn't enough wacky super-hero-type, futuristic RPGs around here. Also, it's awesome that you uploaded a Mac version! Downloading now!

EDIT: Your download links don't work. On Safari, I just get an HTML file. On Google Chrome, the website is blocked as harmful. You should upload your game on a different host. Going to try iOS now.

EDIT 2: Nope. That's not how you upload an iOS game. You need to register with Apple and submit your game to the App Store for review.

EDIT 3: Just watched the YouTube video. Loved it! So bad it's good. Now, you gotta fix your links, man.

Hi there! I tried to download your game's PC version, but got this alert:

I'm on Chrome right now, so I'm not sure if it's a false positive.

That is odd. It must be an issue with filefront a site not the game. I updated the post with Dropbox links.

Alright, I've beaten the game. It was pretty fun.

If I had to describe LAZER EYES RPG in one word, it would be cheeseballs. If you like cheesy humor in the context of 80s superhero movies, you're in for a treat. This game has a lot of that, and it is its strong point. Too bad the funny bits dropped off after the first half of the game, although the action puzzles made up for it a bit. Those were unexpected, to be honest, and were pretty well-done.

I can't say the same for the core gameplay though. Battles are extremely easy; in fact, most enemies die in one hit. Bosses are only slightly tougher and still die in a few hits. Having said that, the game itself is harder than it looks, since healing items are extremely expensive. Not only that, dungeons are pretty long, without any save points before the bosses. So the game is in a weird spot where it's not actually easy, although it feels super easy. I got cocky and died at the last boss, which really surprised me. It was totally my fault for taking it easy on the boss, and man was I punished! I don't think many people will like the core gameplay, but personally, I think it's unique (despite not having any original mechanics) and adds to the overpowered character of the superhero. Of course, he's gonna lay waste to the random enemies! He's LAZER EYES!

The production quality of the rest of the game is bad, but almost in a good way because you expect it to be bad! Like the YouTube video, this game has a B-movie vibe to it, and I can see that it's intentional. That said, some parts are really shoddy though. Here's a list of the weird stuff:

- The first town was introduced as Clarendon, and then it became Arlington? What?

- The Grenade weapon fires an automatic barrage of shots. Huh?

- Most of the gates in the game need Direction Fix.

- Potato uses Nano for Virgin Power? Um?

- One of the chests in DC uses a wrong sprite when it's opened. I think it was inside the White House.

- Potato learned many skills that never appeared in his list.

- Game said that Nano Powers are stronger than weapons, but weapons are actually much more powerful than Nano Powers.

Also, the ending is super disappointing! I expected more than that!

And finally, you said that the game is 15 hours long, but it's really just 2 hours! At max, I think it can last just 4 hours with the sidequests.

Anyway, I like how the game is structured. The hardest part about the game is figuring out where the important key items are hidden. And I had to look around quite a bit for the key in Pentagon (that one is the hardest, and I think you need to give some clues. i found it from my rpg hunch/instincts alone) and the D.C. Key. I almost gave up a few times, and I think that's good challenge, personally.

All in all, I think this is a fun game, worth playing. It's definitely not for everyone, but that's good! I always like quirky games.

Thanks for the review!! Love the feedback.

from my friends test plays I got roughly the same feedback. I was really trying to make getting money and spending it a hard decision. So the items are expensive and you have to really think about when to spend it. And I really liked putting traps and puzzles- honestly I think that makes for a more fun game. For enemies and bosses overall a good 15% buff or so in-hindsight would be better. But as you pointed out I was going for a different kind of difficulty outside the -just grind for 10 hours to win -style.

Clarendon is a city in Arlington County.

Thanks also for for pointing out some of the technical goofs.

Curious what ending you got (but don't spoil it for everyone;-)

Ok I updated the game on my drop box with some fixes.

I basically curved the difficulty a bit. Max Level now is 30 instead of 20 and added a good buff to the enemies. I also fixed some of those other minor issues you found. Thanks for the input!!

So I'm guessing Lazer Eyes commands the mercenary group- X.B.O.X?

Well, I played till I tried to open a chest in a store and got sent to jail. Then got killed by guards since I only have 37 health left. I didn't get a chance to save it, I had to start over from beginning and I was like You know what? I'm done. The random bear battles were way too high. And then you had bears just wondering around. And if you try to talk to the woman that lazer eyes had a one nighter with she doesn't even acknowledge his existence. Which means he must have been a really bad lay.
