Hi,

I would like to ask you some questions about RTP music.
I have made a commercial game with an engine different from RPG Maker (called SRPG Studio).

The fact is I have used rpg maker xp midi and convert it to OGG with an audiofont.
I also used the dlc base ressource from MV (music remixes from 2003).
I thought it was legal since I have purchased rpg maker MV and the DLC XP ost remastered.

It seems that the XP ost remastered can be used in another engine
but not the XP midi and the remixes from 2003.

I can entirely change the music (because I have other legal music in my hand).
I would like to know what's legal or not to remain in good standing.

Thank you for your answers,
David N.

The general rule for RTPs and any default resources is that if you own the engine it comes from you can use it in another engine by Degica. Unless it says clearly that you can only use those OST in XP, RTP = you can use it in any RPG Maker owned by Degica as long as you own RPG Maker XP.

EDIT: Upon learning that SRPG Studio isn't owned by Degica, that would mean that all RTP resources from Degica can't be used in that engine.

Pretty sure that’s a no because SRPG studio is SapphireSoft which isn’t owned by Degica.

Ohh, if SRPG studio is not owned by Degica, then all RTP from all the RPG Maker engines belonging to Degica can't be used in that engine. Sorry.

I see, I guess I will replace all the music then...

From the readme text for the DLC XP Ost remastered:

2. The music included in the Product (the "Resource Pack") may be used with any of ENTERBRAIN's game development software (include all related titles of "RPG MAKER Series" or "our products") that retains the Company's rights. User can create, distribute, or sell their original game by using the Resource Pack only if they meet all the following conditions:

2.1 You must be a legitimate user of our products. You shall promptly sign up and register required information as a legitimate user of our products according to the method prescribed by the Company.

2.2 Alternatively, you may use this Music Resource Pack with a different game creation engine.

2.3 Your game must include additional documentation that clearly indicates the use of RPG MAKER XP Remastered OST Resource Pack and the following copy:

[Copyright](C) 2013 Enterbrain
[Copyright](C) 2013 Ethron T. Young III

2.4 Solely used for the creation of your game, you can edit, process, and modify the materials contained in the Resource Pack.

2.5 Do not sell, distribute, lease, or transfer the Resource Pack itself (even if the materials were edited, processed, or modified by the User).

@david.nguyen General Resources is for sharing things you've made, not for asking about purchased packs.

I've moved this thread to Product Discussion and Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

2.2 Alternatively, you may use this Music Resource Pack with a different game creation engine.
This appears to indicate that you CAN use that particular pack in other engines not distributed by Degica. However, that applies to that pack only. If you also have other packs, you will need to check the terms of each one.

Note - DLC is not RTP. RTP is the group of resources that is bundled with the engine when you buy it. DLC is a group of resources that is an add-on that you have to download separately (and sometimes purchase). RTP resources cannot be used in other engines.

Thank you for your answer.

This means that the XP ost remastered can be used outside RPG Maker.
Truth is the midi files with audiofont sound better than the remastered one.

Does anyone know if the 2003 remixes from MV can be used for other engine?
There is no read me file.

The 2003 remixes is a free DLC from RPG Maker MV
(in a folder called base ressource). There is no link for that
since it is free. Here is a youtube link.

I guess that can't be used in another engine.

The base resources are (a part of) the default resources/RTP of MV. This means they can't be used outside of RPG Maker.

Anyone here managed to never burn out on programming? My current limit is 3 months(6-8 hours per day, 7 days per week, 50 hour programming week on average), and then I just have to take a break, sometimes lasting few days(with at most 2 hours on programming per day). I've been always like this so far, so I admire those who can always be so passionate on programming :)

Automatic level scaling without an option to turn it off can be a very bad choice for a game. The worst I've ever seen was in Nightmare of Druaga, where if a power outage made your system turn off, the game detects it as an attempted cheat and overwrites your save while taking away your best gear, leaving you unable to progress at the late stages of the game, and unable to recover.
Problem with sequels: Heroes getting rid of all their items and forgets all of their skills within the span of a year without explanation. :kaomad3:
I can see the end of my prologue. Perfect time to decide to pull everything over into MZ, right? Right?!
