Intro
25+ hour fantasy game in traditional side battle style, combining characters in a Kingdom Hearts-esque fashion from all of my favorite things from childhood. This includes Dragonball Z, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire 4, and Everquest just to name a few. There is also a great deal of original content and a lot of thought and emphasis was put into the story.

The combat system features a unique combination of super saiyan transformations, chi attacks, magic, swords, and sci-fi weapons versus enemies of demonic and sci-fi nature. Game world features navigable solar systems, time travel, heaven, hell, and just about every kind of environment you can imagine.

Features At-A-Glance:

- 544 individual maps
- 62 total boss fights, with 3 optional superbosses
- 6 playable characters balanced with 10+ gear upgrades for most
- Over 25 spells can be learned by party members, many unique to this game
- Smooth experience progression from level 1 to the 90's
- Chi style combat
- Varied and unique overworld travel
- Tons of custom graphics for spells, equipment, battlebacks, tiles, battlers, and sprites

Plot Synopsis
The story follows the life of a Saiyan, Jace, living on modern day Earth. He is found and trained by Goku and Vegeta, who are from another planet, at a young age.

Before long, the young Saiyan learns that he is the 'Infini', hero of a Prophecy created before the dawn of the Universe. Guided by Archangels and his Saiyan mentors, the Infini travels space to various planets throughout the Universe, meeting new party members along the way, in search of ways to strengthen himself enough to handle the upcoming Apocalypse.

The party saves the universe several times from increasingly dangerous threats, travels time to save multiverses, and eventually storms hell itself in a climactic final battle!

Similar to DBZ, the game is split into 7 'Sagas', unique sub-plots that simultaneously function as individual stories of their own right and pieces to the overall story. Each Saga has its own special flavor that makes the game feel fresh throughout, all while gradually revealing the deeper overarching plot that links the Sagas together

Note: This plot was written before DB Super and thus doesn't have facts consistent with that series.

Characters (Playable)

Jace

Class: Infini

Background: Raised on planet Earth, he becomes a pupil of Goku and Vegeta. He is of Saiyan lineage, and has the potential to become the strongest of them all. As the story progresses, you will see him grow from a naive young boy, to a rashly overconfident teenager, to a wise and powerful leader.

Abilities: Flight, Chi Attacks, Transformations, Magic

Goku

Class: Grandmaster

Background: The protagonist of Dragonball, and the first Saiyan of the modern era to become a Super Saiyan. A century has gone by since the events of DBGT, and much has changed about his life circumstances. He finds his new life purpose in the discovery of an extremely powerful child, Jace.

Abilities: Instant Transmission, Chi Attacks, Kaioken, Chi based healing technique, Kamehameha, Spirit Bomb, Transformations.

Vegeta

Class: High Warlord

Background: The rival and companion of Goku. He is still the same hard boiled tough guy he always was, but he has in many ways matured with age.

Abilities: Chi Attacks, Galick Gun, Flying Kick, Final Flash, Transformations.

Zerg

Class: Voyager

Background: High ranking military officer from the Capitol of the Universe, Illumina. His Elite Task Force oversees the security of much of the known Universe. After saving Jace's life in the vacuum of space, they become great friends and allies while battling the forces of evil.

Abilities: Magic (Ice), Tools, Katanas, Intergalactic Travel

Flora

Class: Lifegiver

Background: Princess of the forgotten Kingdom of Doria, cursed to remain hidden from the rest of Earth. Upon meeting Jace, she cannot take her eyes off of him, but she soon discovers that theirs is a deeply spiritual connection. She is of incredibly pure heart, almost angelic.

Abilities: Healing, Water, Defensive Magic.

6th Party Member

Class: Mage

Background: I cannot reveal who this character is for fear of spoilers, but the character is quite powerful.

Abilities: Offensive Magic.

Battle Mechanics

TP (Tech Points)

TP is a pool of energy consumed by many attacks in battles. It is primarily used to fuel ‘Chi Attacks’ such as Kamehameha. TP is indicated by a green status bar, and has a maximum of 1000.

At the start of each battle, TP is reset to 100 for all characters who use TP. TP is spent when using special attacks, but it can be recharged in several ways:

- Landing regular ‘Attacks’ (generates 50 TP per attack landed)
- Landing ‘Dragon Fist’ (generates 50 TP if successful)
- Taking damage (a percentage of damage taken is converted into TP)
- Using ‘Charge Up’ (100% chance of gaining 100 TP at the cost of 1 turn)

Chi Attacks

Many playable characters can use Chi Attacks in battle. These are typically stronger than physical attacks, but consume TP to use.

Chi Attack damage is determined by the ‘Power’ stat. Furthermore, their damage output is heavily modified by Super Saiyan transformations.

Transformations

Saiyan characters will unlock Transformations as the game progresses. These transformations can only be done in battle, require TP to use, and will consume a turn while transforming. At the end of each battle, Transformations are reverted and you will return to your base form.

Though transformations only last until the end of the current battle, their benefits are profound:

  • Greater damage output from Chi Attacks (in some cases, FAR greater damage)
  • Higher Strength
  • Higher DefenseHigher chance to dodge
  • New sprite
While transformations can radically increase damage output, you lose a turn transforming. Therefore, only transform when you feel the increased damage output is worth the time spent transforming.

Magic

Certain Magic techniques are learned automatically as you level up. Others must be purchased from Spellshops, located in select cities throughout the game. Healing spells, in addition to certain healing items, have additional speed in battle. They will often be given top priority when determining who acts first in a battle’s turn.

Items

There is a hard limit to the amount of a particular item you are allowed to carry. This limit is different for different items, depending on how good the item is.

Special

Some characters will learn special techniques in battle that don’t belong under ‘Chi Attacks’ or ‘Magic’. These techniques can be found under the ‘Special’ menu, and typically consume TP to use in battle. Many Special techniques can be used outside of battle (covered in more detail under Overworld Mechanics).

Perhaps one day when I'm less burnt out :p

Just wanted to announce that someone beat the game already. Grats to Rashad032 on being first to complete it!

It's sort of a riddle. Sent you a PM with the answer in case others don't want it spoiled.

By the way, I made a video of the finale of the game. It includes the final boss fights and lots of cutscenes pertaining to the end of the plot. Watch only if you're ok with major spoilers.

Thanks a lot for your kind words, sir. Glad you enjoyed! You've probably beaten the game more times than I have ;)

FYI as more general news for everyone reading, a friend of mine who claims to be a master of grammar has been proofreading the whole game and has found a good deal of mistakes I never noticed. That means eventually, idk when, there is going to be a 1.1 release with edited grammar. Be sure to let me know if any particular fights seemed way too easy or too hard so I can fix any balancing issues while I'm at it.

Also something I've been doing for fun that I thought I'd share is coming up with more detailed/realistic pictures of what the game characters look like in my mind's eye. Many of the character faces were generated by RPG Maker's character creation feature or taken from various art packs, and thus were limited in how accurately they could show the appearance of how I see the characters.

Here are some closer depictions I've come up with -

Adult Jace -

Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai, Except Jace would have a leaner and more muscular physique. It's mainly in the eyes and beard. They have a certain sharpness to them that conveys intellect and intensity. Fun fact - apparently Tom Cruise's face was the artistic inspiration for Link's appearance in Ocarina of Time.

Zerg -

I have no idea who this actor is or what movie he's from, but he is a dead ringer for what Zerg should look like.

Flora -

Picked an anime image for this instead of a real person because it's too hard to decide on any one actress/model. The story behind this one is I was watching Yu Yu Hakusho and noticed in one episode the character Botan had this hairstyle, which is exactly the same as the one Flora has in her portrait in my RPG. I was curious what Botan would look like if I gave her blonde hair and blue eyes, so I recolored her and voila, she became the perfect depiction of Flora!

Derilexus -

A sketch of Harry Dresden, main protagonist of The Dresden Files, quite possibly my favorite modern book series. Dresden may be a good guy in his books but he has a menacing appearance that seems perfect to me for a character like Derilexus.

Finally, if it weren't already obvious, Geobane is clearly inspired by 'the' Aliens.

Hi, I'm sorry I'm just now seeing this. Thank you very much for the compliment, no other games yet though. Would like to make one with all original characters someday.

Anyway, did you ever find the answer to your question? I can provide a map if you'd like.

Help! I have defeated the fiends in the different planes and proceeded through the portal Zemus took. I found the switch on the left side but just cannot find the one on the right. Can someone point me in the right direction?

You're going to hate me for designing it this way, but when you take the portal into the big grid-like maze room, you literally just go right for a while. All the branching paths are red herrings.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I had been there and was really expecting a bridge to appear without having to actually try to go up back in in that spot. Silly me! Fun game, by the way.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
