Hi there!
So I'm looking for some advice and a bit of friendly discussion involving Steam. Basically, what I'm trying to do is uninstall it so I can re-install it onto my solid state hard drive, with all of its is sweet 500G solid state goodness. I've been heavily modding Skyrim at the moment, and the hope is to be able to run it as smoothly as possible.
EDIT: I don't care about my game files or folders, I've uninstalled all my games and am not interested in trying to keep my saved data. Except of course for rpgvxace which I have backed up all my projects and they are safe. But that is not the issue. My concern is steam itself, trying to uninstall the program safely and fully. Cheers.
The reason why I'm here is this. (Apart from being the avid RPGVXAce user I am) After backing up all my projects onto a separate folder and then uninstalling all my games on steam. I was ready to uninstall Steam itself.
I checked online how to do it, before going ahead with it. Just to check if there's any precautionary steps I need to know about. And apparently, there is. According to the steam website, if you try to uninstall steam without moving it from the programs file in C: Drive it will delete everything in that folder in the process. I would like to post a link directly to that site regarding this information so you can see what I'm talking about, however trying to post links onto threads has proven to be more confusing pc troubles and technicalities and I don't know how to do that.
Anyhow, so what I did do, was create an empty folder with another empty folder inside it to move my steam folder too from programs(x86). I made 2 folders because as mentioned in the steam site, it apparently deletes the folder it's saved in when uninstalling and I didn't want to risk anything on my desktop being affected. Excuse me for being so precautionary but I like to think I'm doing things right... Even though the whole time I felt like I was doing it wrong.

I've made a lot of mistakes in the past and I'm not ready to make any new ones at this point in my life...
So that was that, then it was off to my control panel to uninstall steam. And. done.
...
Now here's the thing. And I hope you've been keeping up with me here.

The folder I moved steam too. The folder which is inside another folder which exists on my desktop. Remember? Yeah, that one. Well, ...it's still there ...along with steam ...and all of steams components.
Now part of me is doomed to constantly run into walls when trying to work with computers I know that. But what's going on here? I've uninstalled steam using control panel... Why is it still there? Still on my computer, in that silly folder. I can open it and access the application, log on. And everything!
The odd thing is, if I go to 'uninstall a program' in my control panel, steam doesn't exist in there to uninstall it. Yet here it is in this stupid folder I've made.
Can someone be my hero and solve all my problems for me!! I'm a very sappy individual and have no one to cry to when I fall asleep at night

except for my invisible girlfriend of course
Tell me, am I wasting my time here? Couldn't I of just moved the steam folder from programs directly into my E: Drive. Or am I an absolute idiot....
I've tried going onto the steam website for help their. But they want my Hotmail address to secure my account and boy.... don't even get me started on Hotmail and the troubles I'm having there.
I'm using Windows 8 and running Alien ware m17xr4. hence the solid state E: drive.
