Hmm well when I have to double the size of any of my sprites I just paste it on Paint, double the size, and and tada. But thanks, I am fixing the tiles right now so I can try and make em more original.

Sorry for the double post.

So I am not sure what to go for, either the original Zelda-like style, or a new more Pokemon-style

Double posting is a little more flexible when it comes to resource and art threads if you're posting new content, so as long as it's not the same day and you are posting new art/music I let it slide.

I like the perspective a little better with pokemon style but the balance of details is better on the zelda roof. The pokemon roof looks a little overwrought and the light source is less obvious. I'm not a fan of the siding on the second story. I feel it should at least be the same color as the walls below.

I can't seem to pick a style and stick with it. I am just not happy with what I am making

Yeah, I need to make more variants of floor tiles, to add variety and a bit more "originality" to this style(s) I keep making

IMO it looks a little bit too similar to the gameboy zelda games.

What looks too similar? The houses? Because that is what I am working on right now, and I want to get done first hand before working on the tiles for the floor. I may take a more Cristalia approach

The houses, specifically that chimney, looks almost identical to the well tile in Z:LW :p

Some of the tiles are placeholders, but well I will try and define a whole new style

With the three roof options your light sources are confused and I'm not sure what the bevels are for, they seem like a bad thing to have on a roof, just a place to puddle water and catch snow. It seems like you're working backwards, putting the style first and then trying to figure out what can be made in that style. Consider first what your roof is made out of and how it functions as a roof then worry about how to represent that in the style. I think doing that will also help you come up with something less derivative.

Ah, your sign has a different silhouette now. I think that helped.

Might be sticking with this style for now, and then I will edit the colors a bit to make it look more "rustic"

I haven't gotten a lot of time to work on my own project, but I made this small stuff, so maybe I can finally start some sort of progress, maybe

I like the peaked roof, though the white belt separating the first floor from the roof makes no sense.

Only reason I added that was because the shading just looked awkward without any separation

It's not the separation that isn't working, it's that it's going around the whole thing and screwing up the differences in depth between the walls and the roof. The curve makes the very first slat of the roof look twisted and you've got the roof's overhang casting a shadow onto something that's on top of it. Having something at the bottom edge of the actual roof works, it looks like a gutter or something there, but on the wall face it's not working, at least not the way you've got it right now. Maybe the shading looks odd because you've got the shading under the roof's overhang backwards (the wider shadow should be on the left, not the right).

Wow these are really awesome. Those last three at the bottom are really impressive.

Thank you very much for the appreciation .

So I am taking a small break from my own project to work on it's character sketches, but at the same time I am helping out a friend on his personal project, and it's a shoot em up. Unknown territory for me, so here's what I have as rough drafts.

Nice! A lot of shmups ships look the same as any other shmup, but this has it's own style, and I like it.

Thanks, and yeah I noticed that as well, most of them had that "cubic: style, and it just seemed boring to me, I actually got a lot of the pattern designs from bugs that I'd see every day, I have a red ship that references a mix of a beetle and a ladybug.

also, at the bottom, I have two ships that will be easter eggs, can you guys guess what they reference?

Sorry for the double post.

So I've been working on my personal project's graphical style, and me and my team decided to go for an old school style, so I tried and give it a shot.

Most of it was based from the old Zelda Gameboy games.
Did you ever finish this?

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
