I have a number of skills that require Actor A to only use the skill on Actor B and never use the skill on Actor C, D, E, etc.

Some of these skill are love buffs from the wife on another actor so I do not want the player targeting someone who is not her husband.

Right now, I am handling this situation with skills that that target the one using the skill that just call a common event that specifies the actor that receives heal or buff. This gets to be a pain after a while and it creates issue if the destination actor dies before the skill goes off. Plus I have to do buffs as states this way and not "add buff" command.

There has to be a better way to do this. Is here a script for that?

If the relationships are fixed and don't change, you can use different states and resists for them.

That would mean that the player can select other targets, but the effect would always be resisted and never take hold on the wrong actors.
And if you have multiple marriages simply use multiple states with the same name or so.

That said, there are different versions of target managers or tag managers that can do what you want.
You should check Tsukihime's Tag manager first as that might be the easiest option, better than a general target manager (www.himeworks.com)

There is no instructions with that script. It just says add "string" to noteboxes but does not specify what "string" is. I expected a actor ID or something, not just "string"

Not enough information was given by Yanfly on this. Almost no information on how to use this script was provided.

string is short for code-string, in case of VXA any Ruby-/RGSS3-code
you'll have to learn scripting to be able to fully utilize any of yanfly's "Lunatic" scripts, but once you do there is no need for additional instructions, which is why there are none.

By default the DBS only keeps track of the spellcaster and the skill or item he or she is using. (Both items and skills are treated almost as the same thing during battles.)

It would require a serious rewrite of many default methods to make it work the way you want it to because it never passes the target as an argument.

It was hard for me too at the beginning. But I found a lot of information in the comments and other posts that helped me. You could use a target based on characters that only have a specific state, and you can add that state only to the couple. There's another scripts that allow you to hide some states if you don't want it to show. I think in the String you should add something like: b.state(x) where X is the state you are adding to the couple.
