Okay, I use to know how to do this, but for some reason I can't figure it out this time. I made an event and "show" picture for the light I want but it always follows, which in turn means its never where I want it.

Hmmm, I don't think it will. As making it "Show Picture" makes the middle transparent while the square around the image completely black, any idea why that might be?

.....? Might i get a screen shot of that? im have trouble visualizing this. Also, what scripts are you using? Any for parallax?

EDIT: Ahhhhh, here is what i was talking about. Its an "overlay" lock script. Use this link, go way down to the bottom, its the second spoiler containing a script. This will lock a picture in your resources as the over lay, and should solve your problem. Unless your useing scripts that might conflict with it. Tell me if it helps :)

It is supposed to make the BLACK transparent right?

The scripts I'm using doesn't seem to be messing with parallax imaging.

EDIT: Woops that the wrong second picture, but it is still the same thing anyways. It does it both for my lamp and torch lights.

What it shouldn't be

What it should be.

Wow, thats crazy. Try that script in the link, in my second post. That might work.

It won't make the black transparent unless when you imported it, the transparent selector shows up and you clicked the black color...

You could always make it transparent using GIMP or Paint.net

BTW, You might wanna look at Busted_Ed's evented lighting tutorial...

I did import it, It made the middle transparent and not the black. When I try to re-import it, it doesn't give me the option of transparency, actually it didn't give me the option the first time I imported them.

Also, this is an overlay, an event wont work. At least not how he did it.

Well, if that was a PNG with a transparency, it won't really show that option... it only does for images without transparency... you could maybe like edit the pic on Paint.net, use the magic wand to select the black area, hit delete button... save as .png using another name, then reimport...

or if you follow Ed's tutorial, you might just wanna make it into a charsheet that you can use as event graphics so that you won't need to use show picture, nor would you need to use an image overlay lock script

I don't know anything about the image, as it if the High Fantasy Resource Pack II Overlay. And making it into the sheet wont work, its far too big.

It will work, really... the sheet will simply be big...

I think the engine instinctively turned the inner part as the transparent color... anyway, I think you could always do the editing I told you above

I'll try a few things to see which one I like I guess. Can I make multiple charsheets like that?

EDIT: I made it into a sheet and it didn't work. It only does a VERY small portion of it.

How did you made it into a sheet? only that single image? of course it won't...

The smallest sheet would have 3x4 frames, and you need to put $ in it's name...

anyway, making it into a sheet will give you the ability to automatically "animate" it (via stepping animation)...

try to find Ed's lighting tutorial and see how he did the light spritesheet... :)

BTW, if that is part of HF pack, I don't think ur allowed to post it here because that is a paid pack...

Sooooo, making it into a sheet is completely pointless. It is a big overlay. Pretty big. Re sizing the light sheet is not something i want to do either. I'm not too sure if you know how big this overlay is.

And oh, Your right, oops. I removed it... well best I could as someone quoted me on it.

Either way, its still automatically making the middle transparent. So I suppose I'll have to make the black transparent myself.

You don't need to resize it... you just need to have the spritesheet well, 3x4 frames, where each frame is as big as that image...

oh well, how are you actually using it anyway? is that a torch for the player? meaning it should follow the player? if yes, then yeah, it's better off as a picture... :)

Nah i wanted it fixed, but i will be using the lighting effect. In dungeons i think I'll use that overlay.

We can't do much but advise since we don't own a license to that resource...

It is all good. Thanks for the help. I'll just have to figure out how to make the middle non-transparent. By the way, it stays transparent even if I don't import it, which is weird.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
