So I have a simple day/night system in my game, which comes with problems.

TestLamp.png

This is my lamp, when it becomes dark it switches to the light version.
Problem it also makes the yellow parts darker which is not what I want.
So I wanted to find a way to prevent the yellow parts get tinted.
Its not glowing or something, I just want it yellow, who knows simple stuff like that can be so hard.

Tried it with pictures, but it still movin like in the other makers.
Tried Galvs layer plugin to fix this but the graphics get tinted there too.
I wasted already so much time for this nonsense so I thought I just ask before im an old man.
Someone any ideas...?

Your best bet is Community Lighting - You can set lights to 'break through' the tint and you don't even need a light overlay layer for your lamps. Here is an example:

Not just the light, but a whole area around it gets lit up (can be customized). I use it with a simple day/night system and I think it works great!

Yes i know this plugin, Its good, but not what I need.
I just want simple lighted Lamps and windows, like I mentioned, because I really want to keep it simple.
Since I would do this also for windows and I have also no clue how I could/should use the community light for that.

The problem is I also need it for overworld tiles, too.
And there it wouldnt work good.
So it would really be better if I can manage this with events or if no other way a plugin to lock pictures, but I cant find one for MZ.
Other idea I had was to recolor the tiles, but the day/night transition looks horrible then, Im kinda frustrated already.

you need day and night versions. once you get the right colors for the lights when on itll be the best way really. lamps and windows dont turn on gradually but all of a sudden. In fact, try yanflys grid free doodads (and KNTeditor if youre doing a ton of lights, it's a friendlier add on to yanflys plugin) you can set the sprites (doodads) to switches and have them turn on when you want. The doodads will ONLY be the light of the lamps and windows if you didn't get that already. Also, you can add halos and beams with GFDs plugin super easy as well since you can set the doodads blend mode (none, additive, multiply and screen) and set color and transperency. super easy to set animations up too.

itll work for tiles too, just make the right size doodad and cover the tile and set to a switch. plus you can edit doodads colors in real time so youre not guessing what might look right or not.

If I have to recolor the tiles I dont need things like doodads. (also there is no free verson for Mz)
As I already said recoloring would make the transition on the world map weird.
Best way would be a way to do it with events or if someone can link me to a plugin which allows to lock pictures (since pictures dont get tinted).

Thats not a good option, also the plugin seems broken.
I think then Im better of with recoloring and finding a fix for the transition issues.

Well, if someone finds a plugin to fix/lock pictures and prevent them from moving let me know.

Animation:
Target(255,255,170,255), 10 frames

Process Parallel:
Code:
◆Show Animation:EV006, Light
◆Show Animation:EV007, Light
◆Show Animation:EV008, Light
◆Show Animation:EV009, Light
◆Show Animation:EV010, Light
◆Wait:1 frame

The problem is that it is not clear enough.

Thats my problem as well.

Window.png

Heres one of my windows, middle is what happens, left is how it should be.

I planned to make now an evening and a night version of eacht tileset.
But that also means I have to make several more for the world map tiles graditations or the transitions between day/evening/night would be to instant.
Is this really the only solution, that would make the project unnecessary large, I guess.

You could put some alpha bloom sprites or doodads over them if you like the effect. the additive blend mode should bring up the brightness of the lights.

I use different colored tilesets now for the maps and just keep the tinting for the worldmap.
Guess thats the best solution for my problem.
But still, thanks for the help everyone.

I managed to apply this effect using this plugin:

However, there are some windows that are above the "Lighting Effect", it seems to be something related to the configuration of Tileset, but I was not able to find out.

Are the default-size "chibi" sprites really a bad thing for a project? I'm not planning to sell my game anyway but I was wondering if they were as hated as some videos seem to claim...
Only 9 things left on the to-do list before my game's next big update. Minus the soul-crushing playtesting session, of course! So close...
