Hello! Does anyone have links to any useful forum posts or youtube videos which can teach me how the basics of RPGMaker MV? I'm completely new to coding and the like in general and have a RPGMaker Horror Game as my end goal with the engine. Any links are very much appreciated!

you don't need to code to make a game with the RPG-Makers, only some basics on Logic and Variables.

Please follow the link to the "starting point" in my signature - I wrote that tutorial years ago for VXAce, but it is still unchanged for MV and MZ because those basics are still the same.

there is a ingame tutorial how to use the very basics on creating a game.
otherwise, you can use google with keywords what you need to know
ending with "rmmv" or "rpg mv" to have hits on those (not always accurate)

but you get what you need hopefully (if it exists).

I would suggest watching someone create a Full Game from scratch on Youtube, I remember seeing many such "Lets make a Game" Series, Those videos would probably be your best bet to start with the Basics.

You could also download Games on this Forum and try them out to get ideas, In-fact this is what helped me a lot. I learnt a lot regarding usage of formulae, assigning stats, making events from other people's games.

Here are a few tutorial playlists.

SRDude's tutorials are great for beginners and I enjoyed his humor:

Driftwood Gaming's Tutorials:

Echo607 has good tips and stuff too:

Lvl Up Design has a mix of videos you might want to cherry pick from:

Welcome aboard and have fun as you dive in! :LZSexcite:

To echo the poster above me, when I set out to make NALE, I started off with SRDude's tutorials and they were fantastic. They're for MV, but MZ is so similar that you should still be okay working through them.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
