Hello maker friends !

This topic will be dedicated to my first serious project, L'Inspecteur

About the title :

Yes, it is in French, but that's wanted. Do not worry, the project will be released in English. This name has been chosen because the environment where the player will evolve will be greatly inspired by French city Marseille.

Changelog :

08/08/2016 : Genesis

Despite that there isn't to show yet since project started today with my registration, I don't come here with a blank copy. As I said in my presentation, my main skill is story and thus I've worked heavily on this. For now, that will be the only thing that will be present.

A brief overview of the scheme of the story :

Schéma de L'Inspecteur.png

As you can this, this is a tree-story. In fact, everything as a further consequence on the story, and thus each player will have a unique experience.

Short version of story :

Everything starts when the Inspector has no money in pocket and big debts. He will soon be approached by mafia members. The first choice will be to join them or not. Depending of this choice, the first of the three parts of the story will start. That's the less funny according to me, since it's no at all linear, but that's wanted. In this first part, its job will be to gather money to pay back its debts. Depending if he fulfills his goal or not, the second part of the story starts. It will be totally different depending on what you would have done during the first part, so it is too hard to explain it here (the second part is the big mess at the center of the scheme). Depending of what he did during the middle-part, the third and last part will conclude the story. There's four big way to end the game : suicide, killed, self-killed in terrorism and death of natural cause.

Philosophy of the game :

Some options in the game may seems controversial (cf. entering in terrorism) but that's part of game's philosophy and its polar noir world. What I wanted to achieve was to picture the human mind and all its sins in a game that is apparently simple but which is in fact the complex reflect of the contemporary problems. The master-word was freedom. There will be nothing that will be banned from players ability, except sex. I wanted to create a game where player can finally enjoy the possibility to get out of what has been thinked for him. With a complex system of karma, any action will have consequences on the future and thus will affect the game. If the player want to brutally murder an innocent guy in the street, he can, but he will have to face the consequences of its acts, physical, psychological and spirituous. What I wanted to show is that everything has a consequence.

Character :

There's only character, well, multiple versions of a single person. Our guy is a police inspector, between 20 and 25, married with a beautiful wife. He has big debts. This guy is cynic, complex and has finally maybe some psychic troubles. What he will live has been explained. Atrworks will soon come to representate him, as well has a description of its physic.

The world :

There's no map yet, because I think that being locked in a map drawed before you're in the creation process limits you (I talk from an already lived story). What I can say you is that it will repartited in several places : the main town and its countryside (inspired of Marseille), a North Africa environment, an Arab country environment, as well as several places, that will come a lot later after the game release, to improve the liberty possibilities.

Particularity of the gameplay :

-One single character

-No magical powers

-No classes

-No fight

-No competences

-No battlers

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
