Heyo,

I decided to try Little Briar Rose because of the pretty pictures, and because it's based on a classic tale!

Likes:

* Illustrations are stylised and professional, and it's put together well in-game.

* Characters and groups have got personality, despite the short story.

* The game doesn't have unnesessary elements

Disliked:

* Sometimes it feels boring when repeating actions, or waiting for the guy to walk.

* The bgm repeat is obvious to me.

* Just my personal preference: It's a little too straightforward for me. I feel like Little Briar Rose could use more "gameplay" since it's not strictly a visual novel. At first I wanted to suggest incorporating more detective work, but then i figure it'd probably mess up the for the length and simplicity of your game.

Issues: I didn't encounter any errors.

Thank you for playing!

Yeah, we had some problems finding more musics and we had to keep the lenght of the game short, for the contest.

Anyway we have many ideas on how improve the gameplay and keep the attention of the player with more different situations.

Thanks for your suggestions! We really appretiace feedbacks!

Ah, i've noticed that the first post was missing the download link. How bad! I was sure there was.. o_O! Btw, fixed!!

Hello.

Could you explain how was the development of this project?

For instance, what you used as the game engine and what software you used for the artwork.

Also, if you don't mind sharing, how many hours do you think your team spent working on this project?

Why all those questions? The game engine is rpgmaker VX ace with some scripts. The project obviously took a month. In hours, I think over a hundred, but I cant extimate very well...
For the artworks we used photoshop.

Little update ;3

While the contest is still ongoing, we are working on the game and in the meanwhile we did a little official site.

It simplify the way to get download and infos, without link as official site the contest submission.

Also, i'll find the time to thanks those that have revieved our game in this forum, scattered in many topics that i've missed. I'm sorry!

RMMV
Here's my very quick and sketchy take on the game (link for info on why it's so short and all that jazz)

+Beautiful and stylized graphic style.

+Nice game over concept (get replaced by a new prince).

+Prince sprite has the *****ingest, most curly hat I’ve ever seen.

-Overall, everything that is not graphics feels much less polished.

-It may be because I’m not native, but I feel like the English used is very shaky and odd in places.

-Puzzles don’t seem to be very fun (for me they were largely a guessing game).

-Instant “game over” when failing to guess at puzzles, must redo all the prior steps. Not fun.

-Dialog is not given all in one go but you must click and fiddle around for a while before they’ll let you get to work.

-Little to no sound design outside BGM. This feels odd during puzzle execution.

-Intro text goes by too fast.

To the developer: Major kudos on the graphics! But everything else needs work. There is nothing BAD in there, they just fall flat when you compare them to the oh so pretty art. The puzzles are vague and not that fun, there’s not much to do (as far as I saw, which admittedly is not much), the language use can be fishy and the actual action seems to be based on chores rather than any real plot (which by itself isn’t a bad thing, it’s just that the dialog isn’t particularly good or engaging).

I’m personally not a puzzle person, but I still feel like the “hints” are too fuzzy (that was supposed to be a WATERMELON? How was I supposed to tell?!) and the game overs are very annoying.

Tl;dr: The graphics raised my expectations for the game greatly but it feels very…basic. It doesn’t match its appearance in FUN factor.

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
