It looks interesting. It has a 30 day free trial period which is neat -- might be worth checking out. I have a feeling it is more complicated to use than they let on though.

Looking at the feature comparison, the free version seems pretty useful, but you can't use it for commercial games. It doesn't look like there's a 30-day trial. There isn't much documentation in English at the moment. I downloaded the free version, and it's pretty hard to figure out.

So there's a free version that can be used for an unlimited amount of time, and the trial of the pro version only lasts 30 days.

That looks like a dream come true for anime artists outside of Japan, it looks like it would be godly for especially art done in a anime style, because anime relies heavily on coloring/shading for details, which would make it easy to make a 2D img look like it has 3D movement, even though the chat is drawn completely in 2D. It would definitely help someone make a great presentation, if nothing else(this way people/a publisher can see exactly what you want to do in a anime, without needing a million foot notes describing every action)

If It's as easy to work with, as the video makes it out to be, and "if you and sting multiple scenes together"(which the video doesn't mention, so if you can answer this, that would be great), 1500 sound like a steal.

That's pretty interesting but the price tag will keep it away from me for a while I'm afraid

It would also be useful for anyone doing sprites.

I don't know how much time it would take for an artist to draw a full spritesheet for fighter-game style battle animations, but if you set up your model and can just move limbs around, that should save so much time, especially if you need to throw in animations for every single skill.

Yea it would be pretty awesome for that too, and nomatter how long it would take(It would either take a lot long or be like a million times faster, I would actually need to get my hands on the program to figure how everything works), I have to believe it would be a lot easier then doing it the way such sprites are usually made.

If it works the way the video claims it does, and you have a very good artist(are puts a lot of detail in their art), that might very well be the best animation program ever made, that's actually affordable by people who aren't ultra rich.

I managed to take a look at this now that it finally has an English version than when I first saw it.

#1 It works the same as spriter. you set up textures/body parts separately. The only difference is that while Spriter uses bones, Live2D uses Vertices Mapping. And live2d uses liquify/warp/deform functions.

#2 You can do this same effect with Adobe After Effects, it's called Image Distortion. And After Effects is cheaper than Live2d by miles. There's something wrong if an adobe product is cheaper and can do TONS MORE than what Live2d offers. This image right here is made in adobe after effects and does exactly what live2d does.

#3 It's not as magical as it looks and setting up animation is way more painful than it should be. I rather draw things frame by frame in Adobe Flash.

#4 1500 price tag is overpriced. If it were cheaper I'd like it more. This is a personal opinion. But I can see that probably one of the things that contributes to this price tag is the SDK to make it work on a lot of gaming platforms.

This is not to say that this is a bad product by all means. I was just...majorly disappointed.

Just watched one of the tutorial videos. Spriter looks pretty nice and easy to use.

Bones seems like a more natural way to move limbs.

Vertex mapping sounds like something that's more ideal for morph animation like mouth movement?

For info, Spriter can be purchased at 25$ before they release the first full version. If it's as good as it seems , it's quite a bargain!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
