It is often (incorrectly) stated that the American political machine is run by a Democractic system. We, the People, choose a Figurehead for our great society and bestow upon them certain powers.
So let me ask you this:
As an individual, do you have the right to harm your neighbor?
As an individual, do you have the right to kill your neighbor?
As an individual, do you have the right to steal from your neighbor?
As a group, can you vote to have your neighbor injured?
As a group, can you vote to have your neighbor killed?
As a group, can you vote to have your neighbor stolen from?
If the answer to any of these questions is NO, please do explain on what authority does any government have to carry out any of these actions? If WE, THE PEOPLE (of any Democratic/Republic/Representative political system), do not have any of these powers, how is it possible to bestow them upon someone else? How can any agent that claims to operate under the Authority of the Civilian Population claim to be ABOVE the laws governing individuals within the Civilian Population?
I think that is something we have forgotten. WE are supposed to be the ultimate authority. In a Representative Republic (which is what the US is actually established as), or a Democracy, it is the people that are supposed to be ruling the Government, not the other way around.
So, once again, I ask you: On what Authority can any so-called Representative (Democracies are representative, as well) government make the pronouncement that they have the power to kill, maim, or steal?
*If you still insist on calling the US a democracy, just recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and let me know if you pledge to the Democracy for which it stands...
and if you still insist on referring to it as a democracy, I can recommend a good book on political science.
