This is not a huge deal but since the game I am making is a "dream game" I am thinking back to playing games as a kid and what appealed to me then. So I was wondering if a Plugin exists for Local Co-Op and how exactly we set up MV so it can be controlled by a game controller, rather than a keyboard and a mouse?

I just want P2 (possibly up to 4 players in a perfect world) to be able to control their own character during battle?

Yes, you're reading right I'm asking for the mechanic that gives your annoying little brother the ability to attack you in the back like a dick.

Multiplayer for MV does not exist, and requires a big rewrite anyway (read: professional programmer working full time for months on it). That rewrite will also result in making most existing plugins incompatible, because none of them is prepared for multiplayer.

Game controller is supported by default for one player, but it supports a general controller - several fancy controllers who ignore the general controller interface to implement additional buttons and controls will require specific workarounds as their drivers will not be detected by the MV engine.

If you have a regular controller, it should be detected automatically on first button press (unless you changed too much on the engine)

Thanks mate. Good to know. A bit of a bummer but thanks for the speedy response.

I have seen a game that uses local multiplayer nicely. Here you go @RetroBoy Im sorry I do not know what plugin he used. I would suggest try contacting the maker. https://gamejolt.com/games/threads-of-love-local-coop-game-rpg-maker-mv/154877

I am the creator of Threads of Love, and what I use isn't mainly a plugin but Common Event:

I create a variable stocking the Player ID and a Event reorganizes the Party according to this variable.
Here, I use the Plugin Talk to Follower by mjshi so I can let the Players choose whenever they want to exchange position (P1 to P2 or P2 to P1)
Player 1 is the one playing, only with KeyBoard & Player 2 can use the mouse to play too (Thanks to Plugin Mouse SystemEx by TTDP)

That means both players can't move in the same time, but a lot of things is possible. You can combine this with a lot of other Plugin to make it fun.
(ps: To make Players switch position in the Party, I made unique abilities for each Player so they have to Switch sometimes. Also, the Leader which can move is the one who will suffer Map Events first, protecting Player 2, but not forever.)

ps: Don't try to test the Game for now, it's far for completion and I do not update it anymore, I take too much time creating this (x
