Localized Fog MV?

Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

I am looking for a way to put fog on only part of my world map. The idea being the area of the map is covered in a fog (Miasma). It would also be helpful if when in combat within the fog the battle screen also be covered in fog.

Do you have a screen shot of what the topography is?

I can think of a couple ways to achieve this. None of them sticks out as best yet.

The idea is that the Fog (Miasma) is coming from the cracks or tears in the ground.

Placing your fog as tilesets would work. Alternately there's Yanfly's doodads if you want to animate them. But I don't know if there exists a way to mask an actual scrolling fog layer in a specific area.

Here is a thought, what about a character walking sprite? What if I create several fog clouds and set then up with a move rout causing the cloud to change shape as it moves? Using several of these clouds they could cover said area and if they are placed above characters there should be no collision and the characters would look like they are walking though them. Question is how large can a character sprite be?

That is definitely and option Howie.

I think making an animation might work even better. It can turn on and off and change image easily. Id think the replay is fine, but unsure. Would probably have to parallel process. If so you might want to zone this area off into a separate map, to reduce lag.

Keep me up to date on getting it to work, and holler if you need any other suggestions or help.

create an event. Its on 2nd page of "New". Under Character. "Show Animation"

As large as you want. But you'll need to make a sheet with a full characters worth of frames at the least. Also with size and number you have performance to consider.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
