SYNOPSIS
  • You play a Cat named Sooty, who has unfortunately fallen asleep on the back of a cart which travelled to an unknown town away from his home town, Sooty is now lost and wants to find his way back home but doesn't know exactly how he can find his way home, so he must find others to help him along his long journey, Other cats and other Animals may help, some may fight some may just want help themselves.

CHARACTERS

    Sooty is the Main character who you will play, a Small Black cat who is lost trying to find his way home.

    Fluffy is an extra Party member, who will join Sooty after he gets some help of his own.

    Buster is an extra Party member, who will join Sooty after a small fight.

SETTING AND/OR WORLD DEVELOPMENT
This game is set in a Fantasy world of Animals, you will run in to a few different types of Animals as you go along through the world, each will have their own towns.

I love cats, so I will check it out.

EDIT:
when a quick look before playing a bit serious, I notice 1 tiny
mistake, where in the in, against teh shopkeeper if not mistaken,
the text is cut off.

try to use word wrap, or double check the text if it needs an enter,
or it can be unreadable, same thing for the quest journal :)

will pay attention on this when I play longer and deeper.

Noted, oddly enough it doesn't do that when it's running through the rpg maker tester, but will look into fixing that, there is a plugin that is suppose to auto wrap text but it either isn't getting added in the deployed version or isn't working once deployed.

Edit:
It seems to be the Default font and a few others that makes it look like it is not wrapped, In the options you are able to change the font to a few other options. I will still see if there is a way to fix the font that doesn't wrap from doing this.

Edit of previous Edit:
Ok so I should have the word wrapping fixed for the Default font, I have also removed two other fonts as they did not look very good with the Quest log one offered no real spacing between the words. these fixes will be applied in the next alpha.

this is in the text from the INN, but another issue here, is that the cat speaks while it's
not in front of the actor which looks weird as well.

in case you want the font that shows it correctly, use that font only, so it will be always
correct, and it's also a nice font as well.

I report other issues outside the cut-off words when needed and feedback/suggestions
where needed.

EDIT:
when laying around more, there are some things: a type in fox town?
of coruse (cut off) ofcourse, even if I should change font, the typo stays :p

2nd, the maps are nice, but alot is blocked, but the deer camp or traders camp has passability open,
so you can walk around, but the exit is not really visible where you can exit it.

same counts for the maps, not really visible, and a bit weird on transfer (no offense).

while the cave light on actor is a bit to bright, it should be smoother and dim it more.
the story on the other hand is also weak, path = mostly clear of fight, but as soon you hit the
grass, you can get the encounter.

3rd) when you level up, it says: "New Skill" but there is no new skill, you either miss something
or it gave misleading text on skill, also the double attack of Sooty cost no MP or TP.

while I wont give a rating because it's a bit weak in overall, the only thing I can rate higher
than all the others are the maps, not that the passability settings are correct or on purpose,
but most maps I pass by (only the outside), are very nice.

Keep up the nice mapping, but see if you can improve the story a bit more.

This will be fixed in the next Alpha update so no need to inform me of the font wrapping issue any further :)

As for the story that will be worked on more further down the line, maps may change over time right now rating is not needed as this is in development this isn't complete yet so please keep this in mind for future posts, Everything is still being worked on and I am the only person doing this so my progression into creating this game will remain at a slow pace.

Ok guys Alpha 7 is now uploaded to Game Jolt for further testing, Please be aware this game is no where near completed and still has a lot of work left to be done, however bug testing is always welcome as long as it's relevant to the current alpha build :)

Please also note I am the only one working on this project, the outcome may eventually be different from these Alpha builds :)

Taking a break is always a good idea if you're struggling to find ideas. You'll find a way forward, just don't push yourself or it can make the process difficult. Your game is neat and I think the story has potential for a twists that can nail in more story lines.

I'd highly recommend 'The War of Art' and 'Do the Work' by Steven Pressfield. Both are quick reads worth every penny.

Whenever I hit a creative slump, these two never fail to kick my butt back into gear.

Resistance is a powerful foe; these books help you recognize it's many forms and give you tools to overcome it.

It has been a while :blush:
But I am back on the motivation wagon, currently I am working on re-designing the current outside Maps using Gimp to make better backgrounds, I am still looking for a way to get more creative with the story line but may need to outsource someone for that if I still feel stuck, I will keep you guys posted on when the next dev update is on GameJolt :)

I feel QSprite for MV is underrated. I basically am able to use my chibi sideview battlers I drew on the maps and have all the motions available. this'll help a lot with cutscenes.
I've figured out how to reasonably tall-ify chibi sprites on my editor. I like that making tall sprites gives me control on expressing how tall characters seem on the field relative to each other as well as better differentiate adult sprites from child sprites.
doing some wacky experimental stuff in MV right now :kaoluv: I cannot wait to drop what I've been working on
