Looking for a Database with some Final Fantasy-like Skills

Hey guys! I've been working with RPG Maker since VX, but I've never gotten much into it and I want to develop a basic but fun RPG. I have been looking for a database akin to the abilities found on Final Fantasy, or at least, a database with interesting skills, since there's some stuff I don't know how to replicate on RPG Maker VX (Magic like Auto-Life, Gravity, Haste, Bard's Hide ability, Float, etc), specially, since I'm trying to rebuild some of the Final Fantasy classes and make them feel unique when players use them.

Any ideas on where I can get a Database for this?

This is going to get moved as soon as I can figure out where it actually does belong.  It's not here though, this is where you request art and music.

I've never heard of anyone sharing the database of their game before, isn't it usually specific to the game you're making?

I've moved this thread to General Discussion. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

So what you're after, really, is for people to help you come up with ideas for unique skills? It's doubtful that anyone is going to just hand over their database to you - that's one of the thing that makes a game unique.

Some of those abilities can be purely made via the database, some would need scripting. Nonetheless doing those would be not so easy. Also, believe me when I say that it will be more helpful to you if you try to make them on your own, asking here for instructions rather than asking for an already made database.

I think he is more after someone helping him execute these via damage formulae and stuff, since he seems to know what skills he wants, but doesn't know how to set them up.

@ Aldath: Perhaps it'd be a good idea to describe what these skills do. It's been a while since I played FF games, so I can't remember well what factored into these skills and what made them special.

Gravity is the easiest one to implement, the formula is:

b.hp * x, where x is (in percent form) the amount of HP to remove. I think most FF games have one version that removes 33% and another that removes 66%? I might be off on that one.

Haste would be best done as a buff to increase AGL, as AGL affects speed in the game. You would need a side view ABS system to implement it in true FF style.

Float if I recall right makes you resistant to Earth spells? That would require you to manipulate your elements, and make Float change your element rate to Earth type spells as Element Rate * x, where x is the percent of damage you still want to receive.

Auto Life requires a script. There's one out there somewhere, don't recall where.

@bgillisp:

Demi/Gravity varied most with either 25% or 50%.

Also Float made you completely immune to Earth attacks but  it's main use (in FF4 at least) was to avoid taking constant floor damage on the way to the Feymarch.

@Aldath:

Mr Bubble has a solid Auto-life script as well as an FF5 mix script. https://mrbubblewand.wordpress.com/rgss3/

Which RPG Maker version do you want the database for? 2003, XP, VX, Ace? I haven't seen any specification, so even if someone wanted to help you out, odds are there they use an RPG Maker version you don't have/want to use.

Also, do you want just skills or also things like battle animations, status effects or sample monsters/actors/classes? Depending on the formulae used for damage calculation, higher or lower stat numbers might be desired (but not necessarily). Also, which database fields of the skill tab would you want to have filled out?

Try to be as specific as possible - it makes helping you out a lot easier.

I don't think that in the long run it would be helpful to just give the things you have listed, because it means the OP will not have learned how to do it for him/herself, won't understand how they are constructed, how they work in an integrated way together, how to troubleshoot etc. etc.  It is the "give a man a fish..." scenario.

I realize this, but I never meant my post to imply that I'd make the database for this person, even if it could be read this way.

What I was mainly trying to illustrate is that asking a vague question like "can I get a database with skills from game x" is not a request that is easy to answer. Also, if you examine how many things you're actually asking someone to do for you, you might better understand why people could be hesitant to pick up your request.

Now, I don't think it's a bad idea to make a database of skills from a specific game (series), as this might actually help people learn from example. Of course, some will just go the lazy route and paste the skills into their own game projects, but there's also standard skills they can use if they don't want to put in effort themselves and those don't really promote learning what you are doing either.

The "Effect Related" block of Hime's scripts will help you build several of the things you want.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
