Intro:
Hi everyone. Long story short, I hate mapping. And I'm pretty average to bad at it. What I'm good at is gameplay mechanics, like battle systems and skills and classes and all that (and I'm good at music). So I am in search of someone (or multiple someones) to make decent maps for our game. The mapper can have as much control/freedom as they want in what kinds of maps they create, the world we build, and even the story, etc. And of course there can be open discussion about whatever aspect of the game anyone wants there to be. And I do have ideas for a world if needed.
Engine: MV
Synopsis:
Stat Customization
I have a lot of ideas of what I want gameplay to be like - there will be an emphasis on customizability through stat customization. I am making a system in which characters' stats increase depending on which skills they use. E.g. if they Attack, their Strength increases, and their Restoration increases if they use Heal. I am thinking there will be a equipment/skill system in which characters have access to different skills depending on which weapon(s) and/or armor they equip. So basically the idea is that the player can create their custom playstyles, and their characters will get better at those playstyles the more they use them.
Equipment Synthesizing
There are some other mechanics I might want to implement. One idea is a simple but addictive "Mod" synthesizing system, in which enemy drops allow the player to synthesize stat boosting Mods for the characters, allowing for further customization. I could also make all equips part of the synthesis system. That would be fun!
Battle System
I like CTB the best, so that is what I intend to use for this game. I am using the Yanfly Engine to accomplish this (of course
). I want enemies to be on screen - a battle will be begin when the character touches the enemy. I want to avoid random encounters. Plus, enemies walking around makes the areas seem more lively. I have already acquired usable sprites to make this happen, and the effect is quite nice. Speaking of enemies, strong mini-boss type enemies will replace treasure - the strong enemies will have somewhat randomized rare drops.
Setting (up for discussion)
I do have potential ideas for the world if needed. My preliminary idea is that the main three characters will be hired to hunt down twelve terrible beasts through the four regions - snowlands, rocklands, wetlands, and grasslands. The hub city is on top of a strangely warm mountain, and all animals below have become infected by a disease that makes them predatory - which is why the characters battle them. The twelve beasts are extremely infected and dangerous. That being said, I am very open to other suggestions.
Positions Needed: Someone(s) who likes to make maps.
My Roles: Gameplay designer, person who does the annoying and tedious crap, music composer
