Looking for a mouse script for movement

What I want to do is, have the player character move when you move the mouse (not Click), if I move the mouse left he moves left same for all directions, I'm making a sort of feeding frenzy type game and I really would like to have this type of movement.

That could be quite laggy as it would ALWAYS be setting and pathfinding to the point where the mouse is.


Is this something you'd want to be able to turn on and off, based on where you are in the game?  Is your whole game based on this mechanic, or is it just a minigame?


Do you want the character to actually follow the mouse (be at the same position as the mouse - which could result in jerky movement if you move the mouse quickly) or just to head in the direction of the mouse at all times, even though it might not be able to keep up.


Do you want up and down movement as well?  Do you want up and down sprites, or should the sprite always be facing either left or right?

Well not sure if you have ever played feeding frenzy but whatever way you move the mouse your fish goes in that direction, yes the sprite would go left and face left if your mouse is moving left. up down right and left. If this is something that can't be done I guess I'll just have them use the arrow keys because the way mv mouse works it wouldn't be any good,


I noticed if you hold the left mouse button down and move the mouse you will go in whatever direction, I'd like to achieve the same thing except without holding down the left mouse key. Also this would be done with the whole game. I'm making a feeding frenzy clone for my wife.

Yes, my son used to love feeding frenzy.  For once, someone says "like game XYZ" and I know what they're talking about, and it's not an RPG!


So character will only face left or right, not up or down?

yes left or right and up and down the fish swims in all directions. oh in my game its not a fish its a scuba diver catching fish lol...my wife loves this game and she played 1 and 2 but they never came out with anything else, so I am trying my luck with mv , so far it is going pretty good, I have 5 levels done already, when I get enough of it ill but a link up here for all to enjoy.


Edit...the character will go up and down too but he only faces left or right sorry.

Just bumping it...I still have not figured it out if anyone can help me. I just need the character to move the direction the mouse is going. if I move the mouse up I need the character to move up...ect.

I'm just guessing it can't be done.

anything can be done - but it might require a lot of work, and you usually can't expect people to put in dozens or hundreds of working hours for free.


So you should think about what you can offer in return - trade other work for it for example if you're good as an artist or whatever.

I got it working a little bit, but then it stopped.  I didn't have time to investigate and figure out why.  I don't think it's a really difficult thing to do.
