    Hey everyone,

I am looking for playtesters of my Battle Crawler RPG, Eternal Dreamers. The game is not a JRPG, and instead focuses on gameplay and item collection. You create your own character, compose your own party, and battle hordes of enemies, hoping for that elusive weapon or armor piece to finally drop. For those familiar with the Phantasy Star Online or Diablo series, the game is very much inspired by these two.

Currently, one out of three difficulty modes is complete in Normal difficulty. Unlocking the subsequent Hard and Nightmare difficulty modes is not an option select, but they unlock upon clearing the preceeding difficulty instead. Before I start working on implementing these two, I want to ensure the gameplay loop, balance and quality of life is up to snuff. That is where you come into play.

As a playtester, you make your way through the Normal difficulty, either until you beat it, or have had your fair share of the game. Any feedback you have to offer, I will gladly accept and reflect upon. Harsh criticism helps the most in furthering a game, and I very much welcome it.

    What I offer in return
    • Your name will be listed in the Playtester section of the Credits screen
    • Create and name a rare weapon or armor (sensible choices only)

    Synopsis

Eternal Dreamers is a battle crawler RPG that is heavily inspired by the Phantasy Star Online series. Light in story and made to play in short bursts, this game is for all of you that cannot get enough of the high finding the next piece of shiny loot.

Albeit a demo, the game is meaty in content. Fight your way through six areas on the lowest difficulty setting, find the ideal party composition, or gamble your soul away in the casino. There is no shortage of things one can do.

    Hello,

As I am interested in the setting and gameplay details you have noted in the description, I would be happy to help playtest your game. As a personal fan of games like Diablo, Borderlands, and many other Loot hunting games, I am very interested in your game and will offer you my assistance in playtesting.

If you are interested, please PM me about the offer and send a download link if you accept.

How long is the game? If it is isn't too long (I can't do a 60 hour epic right now) and you can wait 2 weeks until I finish testing the current game I signed up for this might be a perfect game for me to test in 15 - 20 minute intervals in my breaks.

It's fairly short. Each adventure is a series of back to back battles that return you to town after each of them. It takes about 20-30 minutes for the final boss fight of each area, then you repeat this in a new area.

@MMMm has been a very loyal player of my game's demo, so you can take his word at face value. To begin with, it's the kind of game you can just jump in and out of practically at any moment. It even has autosaving for practically everything outside of battles.

That said, I'd be honored if you gave your honest opinion of the game. I will gladly wait two weeks.

Before I can call that a deal, could I get some information on your project? Just to ensure I could really commit to it with the amount of time I have available.

    This is the project: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/almanac-the-third-portal.98421/
I don't have a date yet, but once I'm ready I would like feedback per World I made. The game teaches you the mechanics and only involves logic solving puzzles instead of searching for something to complete them (and sometimes under time pressure, which I don't use). There are 12 or 13 Worlds in total and finishing one takes about 30 minutes. Ofcourse it's your choice if you want to play the next world or not. And no, not everything will be released at once for testing, I work my way up to the final World (the Worlds themselves are already made, but the stories and Shrines aren't complete yet).

Sounds interesting! Sure, we've got ourselves a deal. I'll send you all necessary information via PM.

Edit: Your PMs are disabled, so I just copypasted everything into the spoilerbox below.
    Hey, Arend Galenkamp!

Thank you so much for showing an interest in playtesting my game. You are of course free to critize any aspect you find deserving of criticism, but feel free to praise systems you like too. Other than that, you can approach this however you want. I only ask that you post your feedback in the thread linked to the development of the game. (https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/inde...rs-battle-crawler-rpg-patch-10-03-2018.75702/)

The newest version of the game can be downloaded here:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/xeaymf05i91586y/Eternal Dreamers v0.88.rar?dl=0

Of course, please let me know when your game is ready for playtesting as well.
Thank you again, and I hope you enjoy Eternal Dreamers! Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Biestmann. I'm new to RPG Maker and have much to learn. I would love to test your game.
Is this going to be an [executable file] or the [RMMV game build file]? I'd love to be able to dig around inside your setup to see what I can learn.
But if you're only sharing the compiled executable, I'd still be happy to play it and give you feedback on your game. It would still be a valuable experience for me to engage in from the player perspective.

Hi, Aiden! First of all, thanks for showing an interest in my game. Sadly, I will only be providing an executable game file with every single file encrypted. A lot of the assets used in the game are paid third party additions, and I do not want to effect creators losing out on potential sales.

@AidenDouglass tbh by just playing trough rpgs with similar styles as yours you can already learn so much! And in this community you can freely ask any questions about eventing and plugins (if no awnsers are provided on youtube already) to get to know what you want to know (like how to event a certain game mechanic)

That out of the way I am happy to playtest! I playtested another game just a few days ago but it kept crashing and didn't have autosafe/safe options so I am happy you do )_(. I already found the link so imma use that. Just wanted to say that I am going to test it out to learn. Get inspiration and to be a generally nice person :)

Hi, JazzGotBlues! Thank you so much for going ahead and giving my game a go! I'll be looking forward to your and @AidenDouglass feedback. The game is very uncharacteristic of most RPG Maker games, so don't expect the commonplace JRPG, but a slightly different experience. The program, thanks to all the various plugins, allows us to do more than you'd at first imagine. I hope you'll like what I came up with!

~That's cool Biestmann. It's helpful to know that there are paid 3rd party additions utilized. I'm seeing things in your game that are awesome that I didn't think were in RMMV vanilla. But, as I am new, I may just be unaware of their existence! >_<
~~As for the plugin Devs losing out on potential sales, you should list all the plugins you used and link to them and BOOST some interest and sales for them! 8^D It's always nice to see a plugin in action before purchase.
(Sorry if I have missed this list somewhere, I've read the synopsis page and don't think I've overlooked anything important, but if you have listed these somewhere, then kudos to you. Maybe I just missed it.)

That's right. I've just made the download link easier to see as well.

A list of plugin creators can be found in the synopsis and within the game's credits. Using the names will allow you to find most plugins I used with ease. Really, the encryption is mostly for audio and image files.
