Hello there,

I am looking for a proof reader (Grammar and possible enhancement of sentence build up) for my game The Lost as suggested by my current let's player/streamer. I never back down for any general feedback either but the focus must be proof reading all the text in the game!

More info about the game can be found by clicking here.

Your work is going through all the information shown on screen this means;
- The main story (Till how far you can get)
- Side events (Till how far you can get)
- Options menu
- Descriptions of weapons/armor/items/etc.
- Explenations of the game.
- Anything else you can find that I didn't put in here.

My trade options:
What I can give in return is a lot of expierence I have with the RPG Maker MV engine and feedback (private if wanted) for your own game! If you're willing to put up the effort to play my whole game and help me out I will be too with your game.

You can contact me through this thread, PM, Discord or whatever other way you prefer.

Thank you for you taking your time reading this and I hope you can help me out!

Now now I do know this isn't the coolest thing to do but I am willing to trade for it peeps ^^ It's not like it needs tons of work, just need proof reading.

It might be easier to get someone to do it if you can extract all the text so they can read it without having to actually play the game. It would be faster, and you wouldn't worry about them missing bits.

It could also be helpful if you specified the approximate workload. Even if you don't know how many pages of text it is, you can give a general idea, like the length of the game and how text-heavy it is. Or how many item descriptions there are approximately, etc. And how you envision this proofreading process. Because (for example) if you expect people to play through the game, take screenshots of errors and write down correct phrasing, that is a TON of work.

Thanks for this feedback, I guess I've had the wrong approach for a grand RPG game cause writing all the text in files beforehand is something I didn't think of. I guess I will need to schedule in some time to get everything I want checked in files rather then asking one to play the game and look for grammar errors and such.

Currently I have no clue how much pages we are talking about but it is a lot. If a dedicated gamer that can proof read comes by I can call myself lucky and if not I will react to this topic at a later time and add the links to the files that need proof reading.

Thnx again for the ideas and feedback @Shaz @Woland

To be honest, I am pretty sure you are not the only one with such a problem. Maybe look into some plugins or converters that dump all the text in the game to xml or something. If you find one, I would gladly know where to look for it :)

Yes, it wouldn't be worth reading text files you'd produced separately - you might not have typed exactly the same thing when making the game, or you might have some typos in the game that weren't in the text file, which is exactly what you'd want someone to pick up.

I wrote a text extract program for Ace, but obviously it won't work with MV. You could just give someone your project, or if you hold it too dear, create a new project and copy over all the data files except the map files - that would let someone proofread at least the database.

If you compiled an organized document with all the text on it I'd be more than willing to look through it for you. But Shaz is right, it would be a little too much to go through the whole game for errors. Then trying to tell you where we found the errors could get confusing very fast.

But if you make that document I'll look through it no problem.

@Dutch Power Creations, it is ton of work for one person. I suggest you could break up the proof reader to different person. One can view dialogue and one can view items description. It is high demand for one person and that would increase chance of doing mistake.

@VitaliaDi @Kupotepo

Thank you for your suggestion and offer. I am currently busy with a person that offered help through pm.

I will see if that works out or if I will start compiling everything soon. VitaliaDi I will be sure to contact you if I start compiling everything.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
