Looking for some forum buddies for a forum project - darn, where does this go?

Okay, so here is my idea:

With the (no, I will not start sobbing!!!!) evident demise of a huuuge resource with the apparent death of FSM

the notion of downloading stuff NOW while you still can is hopefully on people's minds.....

I mean, I have tons of stuff on my hard drive I can never share because the terms are no reposting. So when a site dies, unless I make a game with the stuff or cheat (Granny does not cheat)....(much) it just rots on my external hard drive.

So all of the stuff that was posted on FSM and nowhere else is just gone.....("like yesterday is gone, like history is gone,The world keeps spinning on, You're going going gone, Like summer break is gone, Like saturday is gone...... 0_o ***Granny wakes up...)

But many great resources are still on the blogs which FSM members linked to on their profile pages. (yes Granny is that compulsive.)

Sadly they die also. Some seem to have died right along with FSM for some reason. (/me tries to stop pouting)

And I simply cannot link to every single Japanese resource, image by image in some great list of awesomeness so you can download it.

I mean, do you have Momope backed up??? doesn't it hurt to think of it being gone?

So a good number of Japanese sites - less well known ones than Momope, of course - are still there. Now I can Google Translate as well as the next gal, but I am looking for help to make sure I get the names of the sites correct. What happens is that FSM names change and are frequently different from blog names and google is ***cough, cough*** unreliable anyways.

Anyhow, I do not want to start this unless I have someone who will chime in and double-check site names for me. It doesn't need to be just one person, but I just hate being wrong. I mean, I get it wrong and it is wrong on all my lists and I get really cranky... Plus it is embarassing to call a site "Ice Bath Bedding" and it is really "Soldier Record" and the person actually posts on their blog about it! Really really embarrassing. /me scowls at google translate

So, any Japanese site name artist identifiers out there?

I think, since this is about resources, I might move it into Resource Requests (might also get the "right" eyes looking at it there)


I'm afraid I can't offer any assistance myself (you'd probably end up with worse than what you could decipher on your own!) So I wish you luck and hope you get a few people to help out.

I could try and help! Though, I must say I sometimes find it difficult to translate websites's names, so I just write them in romaji.

Anyway, I want to try and help. ^^

About the "no reposting" issue, that was valid when the site was up.

But now that the site is down, maybe (if the owner is still reachable) we can get a special permission to repost the resources like a mirror of the old site?

Cabfe, it is a reasonable question. The problem is, I keep links to the topics and poster names for resources from FSM. I even check the poster's profile and check if they have a blog and check their blog (often a complete waste of time, btw, but sometimes a great help.) But I did not quite go so far as to keep the email addresses of the posters. Or anything like that. And the site owners wouldn't be able to give permission for reposting. It would be like Lunarea's stuff. It is up to her, not any site she posts on, where her art goes. See what I mean?

It would work for one artist, not for a repository of resources...
