I'm sure some of you rpg maker game developer here started with an experiment project, to be more familiarize with the software, and I'm sure some of those have lots of awkward story, graphics, maps, and dialogs. By making those kind of small games, you learned much about story building. After 1 or 2 mock up games, you finally got the confidence and skills to make your first game to be release to the public. (yeey~)
Looking back at it, do you still have those mock up experiment games from your amateur days? Others may have deleted them for disk space, some of you may have keep them. (maybe in another removable disk or the cloud)
But are they considered a lost media? The "super nes" kind of lost media? There is this guy who has been following me (a fan if you may call it) and he is constantly asking me for my unreleased games, the reason? He wants to "compile it to a wikipage called Lost Media". Curiosity picks him and this guy have decrypted 3 of my games and already made a butchered version of my first released game. But that's not the issue here...
(Q1) Are unreleased and/or incomplete rpg maker games have a place in the Lost Media wiki or any lost game wiki?
(my own answer) I think NO! I make mock up games for self study and discovering what I can do with the software. And some of the entries in that wiki are titled series! "Action 52" "Assassin's Creed", "Dragonball", famicom games, beta versions of N64 games. If you put an rpg maker game in their, future readers will just think of it as "another one of those rpg maker game".
(Q2) Should we compile unreleased/mock up/experiment rpg maker games in wiki?
(my own answer) YES but if the author or developer agrees with it. NO for experiment games. Let's reduce the "generic rpg maker game" count to a minimum, please! Lots of my mock up games have pop culture references, corny jokes, flawed story, and my immature weeab side. I don't want the world to see that! (Minus my suspicion on this guy, I know that he just want my games so he can rip off my unused resources. #Ihavetrustissues )
(Conclusion) They're not lost! they were UNRELEASED to begin with. If unreleased games are considered in Lost Media Wiki or any lost game wiki, then lots of people will make their half-assed game and make a creepypasta out of it, eventually generating cult followers or bad game reviews. Wait! That's a great idee!
But if someone wants to share their unreleased/mock up game, go for it! but only share it to trusted friends. Make sure they won't share it to someone else. Because if somebody else uploaded that untold game, it's like doing an awkward dance infront of a large audience while your consciousness is in another castle. Or worst, they might butcher it and take credit for it.
[are my ideas wrong? contradict it and help me see another point of view]
