So now we can customize the resolution, tile size etc and have a freedom we never had before. Still, it's really hard to make a low res game with the default menus! I have the option of 2x or 3x scaling all my graphics, however that isn't cost efficient as i'll be asking 4 times (or 9 times in the case of 3x scaling) the really necessary power to render my game -- especially tough since I plan to use 100%¨parallax backgrounds as my games are handdrawn. (WITH QUASI'S AMAZING MOVEMENT SCRIPT) Also, lower resolutions tend to be much more scaling friendly. So I'd like to ask for a plugin that rearranges menus so they fit on small resolutions (preferrably integrating the yanfly core customization options, such as line size etc. so it is flexible as well) and optimized for 16:9 aspect ratio.

Some resolutions:

240x160 (gba)

320x180

480x270

As well as a system to better position the battlers in case of a lower resolution (though I suspect yanfly's might do that?)

In case you don't know what the menus look like when smushed to low res, here it is:

welp welp

thank you for reading this

i hope a good soul picks this up

Is there a particular reason why you want to run them in such low resolutions?

Most devices that are powerful enough to run RM games should have support for high resolution.

Because making 48x48 tiles isn't neither time nor resource efficient, especially when you're a pixel artist.

(basically because I want to make this:)

And also, having a low resolution makes it much easier to stretch nearest neighbour mode without visible defects (there will be defects but they will be hard to notice, zooming 512% is much less ugly than zooming 112%)

My latest game, Resonate, already featured "small" graphics (a lot of rpg maker designers / artists in fact do this)

However, 2x scaling everything, esp. parallax backgrounds, means you have 4 times the filesize AND four times the weight in your processor. A low resolution would be great to not have to scale graphics and instead run them in their native resolution. Quasi's movement script makes this a possibility!

:D

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
