This tutorial actually showed me a powerful tool to go along with mapping I wasn't even aware of.  The ability to enhance a map and set the atmosphere really helped my experience with RPG maker ACE as I started completely fresh to the editor.  Thank you for such a detailed guide into dressing up a map further.

Oooh, that is scary. But at least it is not a boss! Throws my first Loveball at it. No making the people cry, you fuzzy fiend!

*Whoosh*

Edit: Sorry, Luchino, I forgot to mention that I learned a lot from your maps. Thank you so much for the tutorials!

Waah, Bigfoot's scary 3:

Luchino, can I just say that one of the reasons I love your maps is because of your fogs and lighting. :) I'm really terrible at those, so hopefully by reading this I'll get a bit better :D

Just wondering how you choose the tint settings. Is that mainly trial and error?
Trial and error. =) I spend up to 20 mins just trying to get the atmosphere right in my games.

And Thanks, Ruby. =)

Ah, I figured that was the case. Guess I should learn to be a bit more patient when it comes to this :)

Bigfoot's still here! *throws

Returns to toss more balls at Bigfoot, if he has not already fallen!

Edit: I hope I got the balls for this!

Maybe this tut needs to be moved to General Tuts. Most people look past it because it's in the VX section. :\ And tints are the most under-appreciated effect when it comes to making maps...

An excellent tutorial. I have to agree on the superb choice of tints.

This gives me hope.
Yeah, i don't parafrax maps either, editor is working fine! but you can make new tilesets that solves a lot of issues!

I'd like to thank you for posting these, as I tried to use colors that someone had posted for RPG MAKER XP, and they just never looked right with RPG Maker VX... So, I saved a lot of time trying to get the same look without all the hours of work to do it. (^_^)b

Glad I could help. I'll probably end up making a general tutorial on how to make your games visually appealing without resorting to fancy menus/scripts. =) So it won't just apply to mapping and atmosphere.

Working on a new menu for my game. I'm not sure if I should get the Lune Engine to make it more unique. I think I'll be making the text color more white to match the "Menu" color. I may add some little stamps or markings to make it look more like it's paper.

Wonder when the next theme contest is coming?
Long time no see. I'm aiming a vertical slice / tech demo for my game featuring a series of boss battles this month. I hope I could get some testers.
