Lyfis Chronicles is a Tactical RPG made in RMMV. Inspired by games like XCOM, Darkest Dungeon, and Divinity Origin Sin. As a gamer, I have always enjoyed DEEP RPG mechanics and the power of player choice! I am actively looking for play-testers! If you like strategy RPG's please come give it a try! (Less fire emblem more darkest Dungeon combat)


SECTION A: SYNOPSIS
  • Hand Crafted battle system. Action Points / Turn-based combat. Perform multiple actions in a single turn. The core of my game. The goal is a deep strategy feel. (Stress, Excitement, etc. I hope you feel something except frustration! lol)

  • Unique commands for every weapon. (No two weapons are alike). Special weapon traits activate depending on what row the character is in. Very curious to see how the people view this system.

  • Unique Enemies. Every enemy you encounter serves a different purpose on the battlefield. Feedback/ideas/improvements to these enemies would be appreciated greatly!

  • (cut out)Research Mechanic in place. Use research to get the upper hand in Diplomatic endeavors or on the battlefield! Plan to switch to a day/night cycle for research times. This is currently a proof of concept.

  • No Item access during combat. Instead, a Loadout system (using yanflys equip skill plugin) is in place. The goal is to make a tactical decision on what to take on to the battlefield.

  • Favor system. Instead of a morality bar, you can gain or lose favor between the different Kingdoms (Ishra Pernix, Lucerna). Favor one at the expense of the others
  • Forage and Mine! the world is alive with things to do and discover!

SECTION C: STORYLINE/PLOT
  • TL;DR You start out as a Disciple of Light, who is sent out to different regions of the world to combat the darkness. Investigate and uncover their motives in each region you are sent to by interacting with the characters of that region. Find clues to there strongholds and strike them at the heart.

  • The world of Lyfis has been in balance since the creation of the world by the Overlord Fis. He created the Gods of the elements. The most dominant being the Lady of Light and Lord of Dark, Lady Lucidas and Lord Tenebris respectively. Many generations have come and gone since then. Fis with all his power is not a benevolent God, no he’s a prisoner of his emotions. Five eras have come and past with Fis toying with his creations. With the rise of the fifth era is where YOU come in. Fis has begun to crumble the very foundations of the world and you’re at the very begging of it. You must discover the intentions of the Overlord and decide how to approach the coming disruption.

    You begin as a Disciple of Light. Lucidas’s elite team of Light bringers, they fight the darkness to keep balance in the world. As a Disciple, you must ensure the survival of the people under Lucidas’s watch. Not all of her children are loyal to her, the kingdoms have their own agendas and seek to achieve their goals by any means. Your duties will range to building alliances, discovering new research and to create a strong discipleship for Lucidas. Fighting the Dark Lord and his army is a given but what is their purpose why do they fight if no progress is made? What has changed in this era that has made them so aggressive?

    As you journey through the world and fight the darkness, things will not be as they seem. The balance has been in place for eras but why now are things changing and could it be possible that this is the best outcome for the world? Many secrets are buried by the dirt of world. Secrets that could change the world. The people you will encounter may be playing you right into the palm of your hand to simply achieve their goals.

    In the end, you must gather the information of the world and decide for yourself the best course of action to take. This is your story and you have the power to change it as you see fit. (two outcomes)

Known Bugs Please read before playing
  • An issue with tiny's Popup plugin. the gold icon will randomly show up when learning new skills and equipping skills. When equipping/taking off gear, the icon for the item will pop up. - RESOLVED -
  • sometimes the "Caligos Shadow" Enemy will be invisible or just pop out. Not sure how to fix this
  • Anything past the first boss fight is not updated proceed at your own risk lol. I did not have time to fix all that but hopefully next weekend I can get on it.
  • I know there are minor graphic issues here and there. I plan to get on it next weekend. because of work I had to prioritize other issues.

Just one thing I didn't like, I haven't even tested it yet, but just for this image I already found something strange, you used enemies that I had seen before, I think on the yanfly site, very good, like that animal with two swords of fire and armor, but then I saw the face of RTPM MV RTP, it was kind of weird, but I'll test, maybe there is more to be strange.

@Gabriel-Chi all graphics are place holders until the Main game loop is considered "fun" I wont polish a turd in other words. I have to make sure the main mechanics are fun and engaging.

It states that in the game description. But thanks for showing interest :)

I can answer question 1, 2 blindly, for the rest idk, I see what I can do
for the rest after testing.

so I answer those here atm :)

1) Gamer (dev semi, trouble in making maps :p)
2) Stone Works (there are more, but I love that game alot)
also one of the very first game I beta tested :) so I'm pretty good at it :)

I will answer the others after I got time playing for feedback/suggestion.

EDIT:
after a few minutes of playing and saved the game, everything went smoothly.
after reloading, it throws an error "cannot find "load.ogg" ".

but also, saving and loading gives 2 different loading scenes, not sure
if it's intended or not. but fix those sounds and possibly tiles.

if you checked the box "remove unused files" DONT do that.
either do it manually that you dont use or make a plugin which files
are required to avoid this.

otherwise, it can be a pain to play if you need constantly add sounds
that dont exist by copy pasting!

@ShadowDragon Great catch! I am trying to get the game uploaded on Itch.io to play on the web browser but man its a pain. I had to remove all the files from the game and add them back in manually. I did a quick playthrough but never tested the save load functions lol so that slipped through the cracks. I think I fixed it ( I just changed the load sound to a different .ogg) so hopefully that works for the next person who downloads it.

I probably overlooked the save/load scenes as well so I'll put it on the list. Thank you so much!

I feel so bad, I'm sorry guys. I thought I had everything working. THIS should work fine no issues. I tested it out and seems good. I wish I had more time to get to the save menu but work and other responsibilities are pulling at me. I hope to get on it this week though.
My apologies.

the autosave features when OFF still autosaves (this wasn't fixed in another
game from YEP also) which should be fixed when OFF otherwise, it's saving
when making the change.

I will test later morewhen I got time, so I can test some in the world.

I've been thinking about doing a jokey submission for the Christmas jam in which, like a cartoon special where all the characters "play" a counterpart in A Christmas Carol, my MagiCats would each play a role from the C.A. Smith story The Coming of the White Worm, with Cyprian as Evagh, Rousalie as Dooni and so forth. But in the end, I figure all my development efforts should go toward the game proper.
In twitter, square phoenix had successfully prompted chatgpt to make the mini game watermelon pangpang.

drew some stuff to see how frontview might look. not entirely sold on or off of it yet. "could" work, but something feels missing.
