Mack sized characters possible in MV?

Title says it all. I want to have mac sized characters but I fear that MV will not take it like it doesnt take the icons different than 32x32 and will mess up the whole picture.

Technically, characters can be just about any size you want them. You will want to use a collision plugin though to avoid issues with * passability tiles.
