I would like my magic to work like it does in FF games. That is, if I know the spell Fire, I can cast it on a single enemy (for high damage), cast it on all enemies (for less damage per unit), cast it on one of my teammates, or cast it on the entire party.

Any way of doing this? Thank you.

Simply making 4 skills and having them each target a different selection is not a solution. I don't want the magic list to be filled with Fire (Single), Fire (All), Fire (Ally), Fire (Party), that's absurd.

You can only do that with scripts.

There are some good targeting scripts out there.

Just do a little googling and you should find em.

I have tried Googling around, I just find Yanfly's Target manager which unless I am reading incorrectly, allows you to do new types of targeting, but doesn't give a single ability multiple options for targeting at once?

I want to be able to Choose "Fire" from my spell list. Then, on a whim, decide whether or not to cast it on myself, my friend, one enemy, all enemies, or the whole party.

I am not trying to be rude but the reason I posted this topic was because I couldn't simply find my answer by googling it. I'm not saying it can't be found that way, just that I've tried and yielded no results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

edit: in fact, just noticed that someone had a similar question and asked Yanfly directly on the blog, and has yet to get a response.

I have a question that google doesn’t seem to help me with -_- What if I have a skill that can be used both on an enemy target OR an ally target? (similar like in some Final Fantasy games where you can auto-attack your own characters). As a bonus – the skill effects slightly vary depending on who you cast it on (enemy/ally). Could I get any pointers?

If you have only a limited number of skills, you might be able to trick the player into believing you had a target selection when it was in reality a skill selection:

In that case you could make a skill type "fire" instead of a skill type "magic", and have that skill group containing skills named "one enemy" "all enemies" and so on.

If you want to change the skills effect based on target selection during combat, then you'll need a script - and no, Yanfly's target manager (or any other target manager, there are several on the master script list) doesn't let you do that.

Basically you would need a target selection script that allows your skills to change the damage formula based on the selected target(s).

As far as I know such a script doesn't exist yet, and it would probably need a big rewrite of the battlesystem you're using to be implemented.

So better decide what battlesystem you want to use and make a script request for modifying that CBS with the advanced target selection you want.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
