In celebration of the new tileset sizing options, we’re hosting a mapping event!

Out of appreciation for this beautiful community full of wonderful people, we’ve decided the theme for this event is community. We’ve come a long way over the years in our mutual love for RPG Maker, without you guys, RPG Maker wouldn’t be as fabulous as it is today!

●Details●

You’ll have two weeks to make a map. Try to capture the feeling of community in your maps, please interpret this any way you wish, what does community mean to you?

Please feel free to use any tile size option available, we have 16x16, 24x24, 32x32 and 48x48 available to us now!

●Rules●
To be valid your entry must obey the following rules!


  • Your map must be submitted as a png or jpeg image. Please submit your map image to the appropriate contest submission thread. You must use RPG Maker MZ to create your map.
  • You may have up to two entries.
  • Your map may include assets included in the engine as well as dlc and/or custom assets. You may use any of the available resolutions of 16x16, 24x24, 32x32 and 48x48.
Note: Please submit an image of your map rather than a deployed project.


●How to submit●

To submit an entry, add your map image to the submission thread linked below.



●Terms and Conditions●
  • You may use resources and DLC sold in the RPG Maker Web store or via Steam and assets included with the RPG Maker MZ engine.
  • You may only use user-created resources that are available for commercial use. Proper copyrights and/or credits must be included in the entry.
  • You can use your own resources, but you must include copyrights and/or credits.
  • You may not create a map that infringes on third party copyright or trademarks.
  • You reserve the right to delete your entry even if it has already been posted
  • You may edit your work and/or the description after posting up to the entry deadline (we may contact you for confirmation if the cutscene has changed significantly since the original posting).
  • Submissions including adult materials such as extreme violence and/or nudity will not be accepted.
  • Only two qualifying entries per person is allowed.
  • By submitting your map, you agree to allow us to publish your entries with credits on our social media, youtube, and other locations for advertisement purposes.
  • If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to leave a comment!

(As a note, the 1.5.0 Patch Notes for the blog and forum are coming in just a bit once the non-steam download is updated. The steam version of 1.5.0 is already live).

EDIT: 1.5.0 standalone is also now live.

This contest happens to fall while I'm stuck doing two weeks' worth of overtime, but I am absolutely going to give it a go! I've been looking forward to this update ever since the twitter post that teased it!

Is there a size requirement/size limit for the maps this time?

There are no specific size limits/requirements for the maps.

I have a doubt about that:

Does this mean parallax maps are not allowed? Or that is only related to the proportions?

@mlogan I think his question was whether the map specifically needs to use tiles, or can it be based on a parallax artwork background.

Post FX are allowed? (Fogs, shadows, light rays and etc). Guess Parallax Mapping isn't allowed, but what about those FX that goes above the map?
I have some maps i would like to submit... ^^

The map needs to be made in MZ, so parallax is off the table for this one specifically (we're celebrating the new tile size options, so wanted to focus on that). Post FX that can be added in engine are fine.

using MV as MV tileset in MZ :p or vice versa (hard to reconize though).
but if they are honest, they keep it on the rule :)

You could, and it would be hard to find out, but considering it doesn't give you any real advantages *Shrug*. Outside of pure parallax with no tiling, but that would be obvious and very catchable.

I cannot map, as I dont own MZ, I will be honest though =)
so I dont join, even if I could join when owning MZ, I would
lose anyway ^^

I know how some people can map outstanding :)
I try to learn from them instead.

Yeah, same here. I don't know if I just haven't seen them or they're not there anymore, but all the jams seem to be just MZ now. :/

Character: Aki Izayoi from Yugioh 5Ds.
Took some trial and error, but I managed to create "visuals" for underground dig path regions.
Couldn't sleep at all so I started working on the topmost deck. I've had to make several deviations from the Imperator/Berengaria's deck-plans to accommodate MV's movement, but 100% accuracy was never my intention.
Still no name for the poor ship...:kaodes:
