Maintaining Default Regional ID Functionality with Yanfly's YEP_RegionEvents Plugin

Hello,
how can I use Yanfly's "YEP_RegionEvents" plugin while still maintaining the default characteristics of regional IDs? Because if, for example, I set a step sound using the plugin with regional ID 5 and also set the map to trigger a battle with ID 5, it no longer functions as a battle trigger.

By default, RPG Maker can't trigger a random encounter on a tile that has an event (how silly would it be for you to walk someplace that triggers a story cutscene or transfers you into a town...and you get whisked off into a battle?).

You would have to write a little plugin that changes that, or change how you do your footsteps. For example, they're pretty easily implemented via a parallel event instead of region events.
