This has always been my least favourite part when it comes to making music and I've mostly given up on trying to do it. Do you have any advice on how to make loops sound okay when you're working with sounds that have a long release time/lots of reverb?
Okay I know this is a very old comment and I am replying many years later, but here's something you can do, in case anyone reading this later has the same problem.

So let's say you have two sections, A and B, A is the intro, which doesn't loop, and B is the loop.

If you make an audio file that is just A + B , the problem is this:
When you get to the end of B and loop back to the beginning, that beginning part doesn't have the reverb from the end of B.

So make your audio file like this
A + B + B
and loop the second B.

Or, alternatively, you can make it

A + B + a little bit of B

and just move the section you loop over a little bit.

I hate to be the first one to complain but this tutorial is incorrect! I went to "track" and "add label at selection" but no box appeared asking me to input loop start or loop end or anything. Just an arrow below the tracks showed up for the length of my selection

I think if the tutorial was blatantly wrong, you wouldn't be the only one having this problem. It's also from 2013, so Audacity has probably changed quite a bit since then.

It is not. Adding metadata (loop start/loop end) and everything else still looks similar to a decade ago.
I just downloaded the software to make sure.

You did not correctly read the tutorial/what you're clicking on. The option inside the Track menu now says "Add New Label Track," not Add New Label.

@TheoAllen To be as fair as is deserved, the option did move. I found it in about 8 seconds of looking at the various menus - Labels are now easily found under Edit, not Track.

Edit -> Labels -> Add label at selection brings up the exact view that's screenshot in the first post.

Fair, my question would be, what's the purpose of adding a label?

Everything required to loop music is still in the same UI (export, adding metadata, and viewing the sample length). Labels are not required and can be completely skipped.

That's the method described in the initial tutorial post of this thread. I think it's a little late to ask the OP that question :stickytongue:

My guess is that you could try to check the loop easier by moving the label across the timeline. Because the UX during that time was horrible. Still, not a required step to do :p

Some dog owners really impress me. I'm pushing 2-3 metric tons of garbage containers that destroy everything they hit. What do you think is going to happen to your tiny dog when I run it over? And why are you crossing my path to argue with me? Have you never been hit by 200kgs of garbage?

Lesson for you folks. Never mess with an angry garbage container. Or its driver.
I didn't dispose of a file properly and now my whole game won't start: I get a script error in the Scene Manager stage of game launch. What to do? Transfer it all to a new project? That's going to be tedious. Fortunately I am only nine workdays into it.
