Ok in my game I have my own needs system, now I need to figure out a better way to lower stats when your needs get to low.

My current method lowers your stats when your hunger, thirst and rest needs are to low. It all adds them together though. Like If I have 50 attack and all my stats get below 30 then I'll end up with 1 attack point left.

    Is that way efficient?

Also how can I get my stats to return to normal after the character boosts this needs?

    Thanks for the help

    Here's what I would do:

I would use Tsukihime's Progressive States script (I'd link, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed.).  Use an auto run event (from the Inn) to apply 'Well Fed,' 'Well Rested,' 'Hydrated' states to everyone in the party.  Using the script, I'd have these states progress to 'Hungry,' 'Tired,' and 'Thirsty,' each with their own penalties.  Again, over time, I'd have these states progress to 'Starving' 'Exhausted,' and 'Dehydrated.'

However, I think it only works in battle.

"RPG equals combat," as they say.

Of course you're allowed to link a script ;)

It works outside of battle as well.

So using this method instead of a number it would show states? Could this states be shown in the menu?

This wouldn't allow the player to know how much food they would need to recover.

@Tsukihime so it would work by number of steps I take instead of time? Because I was doing it in frames and I don't know if timing works outside of battle? Also how would I reverse the states.

Is there any other way I could show this with numbers?
