Autonomous movement has absolutely NOTHING to do with the trigger.
The settings for autonomous movement are between the sprite picture and the content area, in default they are set to "fixed" (= not moving), and you change them to random, custom move route or approaching the player.
You can for example place a text command in the content area what the NPC will say if the player talks to the NPC, and the autonomous movement will resume after the content is completed.
If you're this new to the editor, I suggest following the link in my signature and work through the tips and tutorials there.
