Hello! I have been around here for a while and I have faced my first trouble: I want to make the very first part of the game a cutscene but, how do I make that? Because I thought I could maybe use a playable actor for that but then I face the problem where I would need to change the actor for the actual game to happen.

So, any help with that? I have tried making an event before but it's just not running and it says something along the lines of 'Cannot find the player' when I launch the game...

Yeah, I think so if you've done the cut scene correctly.

Yeaaah that's the part that is still not working oh god XD thanks for your help, the game now starts but it jumps the cutscene completely, I may need to redo that, but again, thank you.

I'm very new to this, I just did the tutorials and that but still this is kinda way too hard for me it seems.

I suggest you follow the link to the starting point in my signature and work through the basic tutorials listed there - it looks as if you're missing a lot of the basics, and the fastest way to get them is to read and play through those tutorials.

I'm also trying to create an intro cutscene, but in this particular instance I want to create a cutscene that shows some images with text overlays and then cuts into a character creation screen that I'm working on BEFORE the player even lays eyes on their sprite. I have the event all worked out, but when I start the game you see the player and game map for a split second before the event runs. I want the game to start with a black screen and run the event straight from the start menu.

Would I have to create a movie in order for this to work?

@RedBirdXlll There is an option to make the character transparent (invisible) at game start. It is under Database > System [Tab] > Transparent ON

@Ossra Ah! That is good to know, thank you!

Will that stop the cutscene from showing the map before it starts as well? I also have the event priority set as being above the character, but that hasn't seemed to make a difference.

@RedBirdXlll No, but you can create a new map (which should be blank, without any tiles) and set the player start point there. That blank map can serve as a jump point to whatever map and/or event you want to go to next. Blank spots on the map will show up as black, so it would appear to be a black screen to the player.
