RPG Maker Forums

I've been wanting to make my game using 8 bit graphics and tiles using chiptunes like an NES game with a simple story and lot's of character and party customization. I've been trying to find good spriting tutorials for making tilesets and sprites and the like for stuff in this style. And I'm hoping to find a good guide to making chiptunes as well. If anyone can help me there with a heap of links I would appreciate it, for both tiles sprites and tunes. I'm just having trouble finding good tutorials for a complete newbie.

I got Artifact Adventure the other day as a gift from a friend and it is a perfect example of the sort of game I want to make. Both in style and gameplay. The game is probably my favorite RPG Maker game yet. I own VX Ace, RPG Maker XP and RPG Maker 2k3. I think I would like to make my retro game using 2003. But I haven't decided.

Has anyone else played Artifact Adventure? It recently released on Steam and I love it. In my opinion it's just as good if not better than the original Final Fantasy.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
