Hello,

I was able to make my own Sprite Walking image and add it into the Generator files. It looks cool. I modified an image to make a snake body and filed it under TV_Clothing (along with a TV_Clothing_c file too). That on its own wouldn't work, so I copied files for another clothes type, put the snake body name/number on them, and then the whole thing showed up on the Generator. I don't really need the snake body for SV battle images or Face images, so it doesn't really matter to me. My issue is that I'm not able to adjust the color of the snake body. All the other "plugged in" images have their colors change, but the tail does not.

My guess is that I need the Variation image to share the same colors as the _c file of the original TV_Clothing image. Is this correct?

You're close!

The Variation image is what shows up in the editor to allow you to choose a generator part. You can actually have parts without any face/sv images, but you need the Variation image for it to show up which is probably what you were having an issue with.

The Variation is just like an icon. In reality, it can look however you like and won't affect the part.

The colour change is controlled by the _c file. This is the "colour mask". If you look at all of the clothing pieces, you'll notice that the _c file has the same 4 colours being used, regardless of the actual colour of the clothing. These colours tell the generator which areas of the image to change for "Main colour" "sub colour 1" etc. The brownish one is the 'Main Colour' of the generator and so forth.

So what you need to do is take your image for the TV clothing+ first delete any black lines. Then recolour your main part to be that solid browinsh colour that you've picked from another Clothing_c file (it has to be the exact same shade. I think it's like #ae8682 and there's actually a full list here, but way easier just to use the eyedropper tool.) Keep going with any other areas you want to be colour-able until you've got a complete colour mask. Finally give your image a solid white background and save it, and it should be working now!

My explanation is a little confusing, so try this video if you didn't quite get it;
Around 2:30, but make sure you use the colours from the clothing piece _c and not an accessory.

Hope it helps! :kaoluv:

It did help. Photoshop was being annoying for awhile, because it didn't want to "fill" a section in completely without shading. I did eventually get it, and it works out well. Not perfectly, but that's due to my own creative limitations in pixel art.

And here they are, since you helped. Feel free to use them.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
