I'm a newbie, I've been making a town and I want to know what's the best way to go about it. The same town has multiple events
depending on how far you are into the game. At first, maybe it's daytime, certain shops are open, others are closed, people are talking about current events. You come back later, maybe it's sunset or raining, or dark, etc, different shops are open and closed, people are talking about different things then they were the first time, maybe certain people that were there the first time that aren't there now, maybe there are people there now that weren't there the first time, or they're just in different places around town. As you still continue to progress, you come to that town and all of those things are different yet again. I may have the town do this 5,6,7 times, haven't really made up my mind yet. I know "how" to do this kind of thing (switches, etc), but my question is, what's the best way to do this? So far playtesting this has been a royal pain, I can put a Physical button in the town that my player can press for testing purposes to activate certain switches to allow me to test these different scenarios to a degree, but part the problem is this doesn't take into account the many self switches the various NPC's and other events have. I'm just wondering what everyone's opinion was on how to approach this. Should I have all kinds of switches for all the NPC's and event? Should create multiple copies of the same town and just have a different switch set at the entrance to run the desired scenario? Thanks in advance.
