OSX user here. Looking for a way to make organizing custom tilesets less... cumbersome. The default stuff is great, but I'm pretty adamant about using my own material. Problem is most of the graphics I'd like aren't drawn to a 48x48 grid, which means resizing them and hoping there isn't enough blank space to throw the other rows/columns off...

Biggest problem for me is the inherent lack of art programs for Macs. I had the most luck with Gimp, but even that one is giving me trouble. Is there a Mac-compatible image editor that lets you...

- Configure grid for moving tiles

- Snap tiles to grid, can relocate/move tiles easily

- Resize pixel image (or an image selection, couldn't do that with Gimp either) without compression/blurring/smoothing

- Auto align small images (ex: 50x50) into the middle of grid boxes (assuming it’s larger, like 100x100)

- Instant alpha (or chroma key) for removing color/adding transparency. No blurring, pixel perfect

I heard about an asset editor that does the job pretty well, but it's Windows only. Currently I'm switching between three different art programs; it takes forever and the tedium is starting to do a number on my motivation.

I believe there's a plugin that allows the game to load 32x32 and even 16x16 tiles, the only thing you'll need is a placeholder for the editor so you should be able tk make a fast version of the tileset for use in the editor while use the original In game.

He's talking about a graphics editing program that will let you create tilesets with your own tiles.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
