Alright so, I just recently bought rpg maker vx ace and.. I already finished mapping, made a little cutscene in order to start the game.. There's just one thing that I wasn't able to find on google. I was planning to make some sort of system in which you talk to a spefici guy, and that'll trigger a event to happen in order to change a map from its specific form.

For example:

You walk out of the map, to another one *those zones* and ones you finished talking to someone, once you than return to the first map. A few things changed, like some buildings are destroyed.

If anyone knows how to do this, please inform me.

Yours sincerely,

Darkmanz.

Maps themselves cannot be changed (some scripts allow for changes, but that would be difficult in such a case).

What you do instead is make two maps and use switches on the transfer events to have the same transfer event send the player to different maps before and after that talking event.

Or you can change the tileset for the map, right?

For instance, if you were using someone's "burned" rtp edits, just keep the map the same and swap the tileset.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. In my situation I dont mean a transfer. I mean like in a way that once you finished talking to this charachter, once you than try to return to some place a other map shows up.

To explain this a little bit easier I'll tell you my story.

*the character spends a night at his friends house, when he than tried to return home his village it's completely destroyed* That's what I'm trying to achieve here.. Just the problem here, the game starts at that same city.. So somehow I gotta change it or make somekind of event that changes the transfer I made (this is to a side zone, in the middle of the character event in which I have to talk to) after talking to this specific person.

Yes, I understood that correctly - and that is what is achieved by switching the transfer to a different map.

You make the original map, then (to prevent from too much work) you copy the map in the editor, making a second identical map.

That second map will then be modified to show the changes (destroy = replace with different tiles) you want.

Then, in the map with the event of the person talking to you you have a transfer event that originally leads back to the first (undestroyed) map.

That event can be done by quick event creation - transfer as you usually create them.

Then you make a switch "XY destroyed", and in the talking event after the talk you control that switch ON.

Then you edit the transfer event you created to the first map. Click on Copy and on Paste to duplicate the event page.

Go to the second page, activate one condition switch for said switch XY destroyed. This condition has to be on the second page.

Then right-click on the transfer command (which currently still leads to the undestroyed map) and select "edit".

In the edit screen, redirect to the destroyed map.

If that doesn't work for you, then post screenshots of your event pages and tell us what you want/need to change/achieve.

Alright, I honestly tried to figure out how it worked.. but, at the point you said "XY destroyed" I simply lost it, I tried looking around in the "Game Progression" tab, under "Control Switches". Once I did that I could choose between event.. I tried to apply this to both events *the ending of the talk scene and the transportation event to switch to the destroyed city* Once I closed the window, and checked back later the event disappeared.

I'll make some screanshots to help you understand.

http://prntscr.com/7blsh4 This here is the conversation.

After that, I added a new map so I could use different NPCs. I believe this's not a problem for what I'm trying to achieve. Anyway, the character than has to contineu to a map that's inbetween those two scenes.

At the ending of this map I have a simple transfer http://prntscr.com/7blvku

When I was trying to use the switch like you said I used this window, the first button. http://prntscr.com/7bltzk

I currently have no idea how I'm going to contineu.

I'd like to say that I'm sorry if this all looks very obvious to you but, I'm just trying to learn from this program, and I am thanking you very much for helping me out with this.

Your first problem is that an event is more than the content you have cut it down to in your screenshot - and the options you need are to the left of that part.

There is a reason why the content is only half of the event window - the other half is important as well.

Unfortunately you're missing too much of the basic funtions of the engine.

I suggest you pause the work on your game for two weeks or so and start a tutorial game where you work through the basic tutorials - everything described in those tuitorials you will do yourself in your tutorial game (just reading tutorials without doing them is a wast of your time).

I suggest you follow the link in my signature, that was written to get new users to learn the engine as fast as possible, to allow them to maker their own game as fast as possible.

And yes, that "as fast as possible" are those two weeks I mentioned. RM is easy to learn, but that doesn't mean you can learn it in five minutes.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
