hello, i have a general question. is there a way to make it so when you go into battle it just uses the map instead of a pre set background? so basically your walking along on the map, you have a random battle but instead of going to a different screen the enemy just pops up visually and all the usual battle windows pop up. This is basically the battle visual for classic Dragon quest.

Throught javascript this is very possible. At this moment i don't think there's such a script out already. You could either request one or take up Javascript and try to do it youself. Will take dedication but you'll get a lot in return: knowledge of javascript.

Hi Dallas,

I recently posted my Battle Background Control plugin, which you may find useful!

Battle Background Control Plugin by Tyruswoo

To accomplish Map Screen Battles as you are describing, you will want to install the plugin and open it with your Plugin Manager, and then remove all of the default parameter values so that they are all blank.  This will make it so that your Overworld map does not load any battle background; therefore, MV uses its default, which is to use the map screen as the battle background!

Please note that by default, the map screen gets slightly blurred.  This could be fixed with an addition to the plugin, if necessary.

I hope this helps!

P.S.

I put out a quick update to my Battle Background Control plugin.  Now you can choose whether the map screen battle background should be blurry or not!

Also, there is another easier way to accomplish this, without plugins!

Open up your Database, and go to the Tilesets tab.  If you have the default resources, you will see "Overworld" as the first tileset.  Within the Overworld tileset, find where it says "Mode" and change it from "World Type" to "Area Type."  You are done!

Now your Overworld tileset will ignore the terrain of the tiles!  All your battles will have the map as the background!  Note that it will be blurred by default (unless you use a plugin).

I hope that helps!

oh! thank you! yeah i figured it out a while ago without using a script however your script ID really usefull! By making the battle backrground smaller and basically just making it a window like in the DQ example i was able to keep the Map Bg looking fine and have it as a pop up along with an easy way to manage what BG appears on what tileset :) so thank you!

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
