hi everyone this is first time in the general discussion board so please go easy on me :D

anyways mapping and eventing in general are very boring to me and i hate certain aspects of it

mainly making buildings in cities, or eventing major long events to work right

i noticed this when i had to scrap EVERY SINGLE MAP of my project to fit a new story that i came up with for it.

i decided to play some of my favorite RPGs, to get inspired for some of the cities and dungeons

but i still hate making buildings

anyways how do alot of you get your ideas when this sort of thing happens to you?

I absolutely HATE making towns and cities.

What I do is normally take like a week break between the start of the town, and starting to actually MAKE the town.

Hmm... what I do is, I try to make several maps that I know will be needed for the project first, then I do eventing once I'm bored with mapping.

From there, I alternate between mapping and eventing to change up the flow.

I also don't make maps unless I know I really need it, so I never scrap anything that I've made already. Having the story fully planned out and revised before you start mapping/eventing can help.

Of course, there'll still be time when I really need to take a break too. In which case I go play games and relax for a couple of days before returning to the project.

Pretty much the same like what fish said, I either do mapping or eventing when I'm bored with one. When I got bored with both of it, I just went toying around with the some events that'll showed up later in the game. Or ditch the project for a while and do something else, and hope that I don't completely ditch it.

I always have a disconnect between the way a map looks as a whole, and how the map will be seen in-game. I've actually cut a hole the size of the game screen out of a piece of tagboard and then I hold it up to the screen, moving it around to see how it looks as I go.

When that doesn't help, Pinterest is a lovely thing. XD

As someone who's not particularly fond of mapping, I'm weirdly comfortable with creating events (as long lots of variables aren't involved).

Maybe because I'm a writer and whenever I do that I feel I am in my "element".

Anyway swapping between messing with events, creating other maps or fidgeting with your database are good things to get your mind less stressed.

Don't try to push it if you're not in the mood. Ask anyone here-- the result is almost always wasted time and frustration.

Worst case scenario just take a few hours or even days off your project if possible. One day you may feel ready to do events, maps and everything you were uninterested before.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
