Hello everyone!

I am fairly new to rpg maker (atleast the new one, i used it many years ago) and i have a question about mapping.

Sorry if this already have been answered but i am visually impaired and have hard time searching for information.

So, my question:

I am trying to make a "forest biome" map but not able to place tre's overlapsing the others. the first tree just gets deleted.. I saw some videos about parallaxes and using i.e photoshop to make this possible. I just wonder if there's another way? I don't want to use photoshop or programs like it to make a nice forest.

Hope you understand my question didn't know how to put it.

Thanks in advance

/Marcus

well, if you don't wanna use photoshop or other image editing software, you can also ask someone to make a new tilesheet containing overlapped trees... else, you need to use scripts to place custom pictures to mimic placing the tiles anywhere you want...

well, maybe... and at least, you can see the results in real time... plus doing it via script causes lags during gameplay especially on large maps...and oh, based on another thread here recently, it seems like using a parallax map of size more than 300x300 doesn't work... so keep your parallaxed maps below that

You can also use an event with the correct tree graphic, set to Above Players to overlap the trees. I think some of the sample maps show you how to do this.

Actually, it's hard to do via events for the 2x2 trees... unless he turns the tree graphic into a character sheet formatted correctly, so he can use the 2x2 tree in a single event... unless he only plans to overlap a few of them... though yeah that's an option... :)

I found that the Sample Map "Castle Town" have the trees like i want them, i checked and there wasn't the "event" method. Is there anywhere i can find i.e a manual how the map was done?

That map uses special tiles where the trees are already combined and cannot placed independently.

You'll find those tiles on the B-sheet to the right of the single 2x2 tree, just combine them with the tiles from the single tree where it is neccessary.

you can create new tileset while mixing the sheets of other tilesets, or if all slots in your tilset are already in use you can "frankentile" by replacing a few unused tiles on one of the tilesheets you're using with tiles from another tilesheet by using a graphics program like GIMP or Photoshop.
